Innes and Liz are special hosts, and we cannot recommend our stay highly enough. Look forward to next time.

Nothing was too much travel. The General Manager was exceptional. Location albeit remote was exactly what we were looking for.
With empty roads and even emptier hills, the Ben View Phoenix Hotel is the perfect place to explore the best-kept secret in Britain - Ardnamurchan.

This was a very handy stop off on our bike tour, on the main road but close to the coastal path we took. We had a wonderful meal here and the staff were all really friendly. Thanks!

The village is in a really beautiful place on the edge of a loch.
It has all of the amenities you could wish for- a well stocked shop, a takeaway and a lovely cozy cafe. We really enjoyed our day there.

Acharacle is an ideal central location for exploring Moidart...
Acharacle is an ideal central location for exploring Moidart, Sunart and Ardnamurchan. There are plenty of short walks (up to 5km) within a 30-minute drive as well as more remote mountains, such as Ben Resipol. The driving distances aren't far but the roads are mostly single track so allow more time for courteous and careful driving. There are plenty of Forestry Commission car parks for wildlife hides and nature walks. There are fewer signposted mid-range walks (10-15km) but they do include the superb Silver Walk along the shores of Loch Moidart (starting from Tioram Castle) and the walks around Kentra Bay. The Ardnamurchan peninsula is stunning! The lighthouse guide is incredibly interesting and well-informed and Sanna Bay is beautiful. There's a nice walk there from Portuarik. There are boat trips on Loch Sunart and Loch Shiel. Acharacle is approx. 1 hour drive from Mallaig (ferry terminal) if you also want to visit the small islands (Eigg, Muck, Rum and Canna). It's a great base if you enjoy the outdoors and want to get away from the crowds.

Coille Darach is a first class B&B situated near Strontian...
Coille Darach is a first class B&B situated near Strontian in the Ariundle Forest. The house was new, immaculate and comfortable, the breakfasts excellent. Mary and her husband John were friendly, kind and helpful, we really enjoyed our all-too-short stay. The whole of the Ardnamurchan peninsula is wild, beautiful and very interesting geologically. Acharacle village is a few miles from Coille Darach, a pleasant place at the end of Loch Shiel (on which are boat trips) with sandy bays nearish at Kentra Bay and Ardtoe. Also near is Castle Tioram. Cafe Tioram at the end of the village provided a good light meal. Nearly all the roads (and there are very few) are single track so need care and courtesy, but are all part of the delight of the area.

This makes a superb base to explore the stunning Ardnamurchan Peninsula, especially trips to the lighthouse ( = furthest westerly tip of mainland UK), Mallaig and Glenfinnan Viaduct.
I would like to have stayed longer, so I could use the short ferry to the island of Islay.
The road to the lighthouse is a bit like being on the big dipper as it winds through the breathtaking countryside.
There was v little traffic when we went in late May - so it was an utter delight - but this would be v unpleasant, arduous and even dangerous if it was v busy.
The lighthouse itself is a superb attraction with an extraordinarily well stocked cafe considering the barren, remote location.
Mallaig is quite a nice town, and excellent for sea food, which, as a vegetarian was not for me, alas!
There's also Glenfinnan Viaduct which is certainly spectacular. There are also the beautiful and unspoilt golden sand beaches of Arkaig.
There are other attractions too, all wrapped up in the most glorious scenery and welcoming Scottish hospitality.
But think on:
Scotland is practically litter free, of which the Scottish and visitors can be truly proud.
KEEP IT THAT WAY OR STAY AWAY!

The village is in a very pretty area and within easy reach of beaches, a castle, and pleasant country walks.
Can recommend Ardnamurchan generally but remember WiFi signal is very patchy and it rains a lot! Also you definitely have to know how to drive safely on very small single track roads. Not for the faint hearted!
The location in beautiful and quiet Acharacle was ideal. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and made sure we had the right parking space. The breakfast was made to order and they were flexible with some changes we requested. Delicious! We loved the little chats with the hosts after breakfast and their dogs added to the charm (though they were in the garden and we didn't go into the garden). They even booked us for dinner at the neighbouring pub on the evening we were checking in. Overall, a lovely stay, thank you!
This luxury pod is superb in every way. It was perfect for one and would be excellent for a couple - similar to staying in a roomy boat or caravan. Despite being just off the main road, it was wonderfully quiet and dark. There are good places to eat in Mingarry and Acharacle. There is also a well-stocked shop in the latter. It provided the perfect base to explore Ardnamurchan - an hour to the lighthouse through spectacular scenery. Getting there is much easier, now the Corran Ferry has reopened for cars.
Exceptional property - beautiful location, stunning property with well thought out facilities in room. Delicious breakfast and friendly and helpful hosts - not to forget the lovely, comical dog :-) We had a most enjoyable stay - perfect for visiting the beautiful Peninsula. We had lovely meals at both the Aryundle Centre (just opposite the property - offering a ange of home-cooked meals) and also at the Strontian Hotel overlooking the Loch. Highly recommended.
Liz and Innes were great hosts, very friendly and kind. The location was excellent. They made us feel very welcomed and did not mind what time/when we went out or came back. Breakfast was fantastic, as they say, they will give you a great breakfast to set you up for the day. Room was big and very comfortable, would highly recommend staying there if you were visiting Acharacle/ Highlands.
I stayed here with my partner, and my family a few weeks ago and we were absolutely amazed by this cottage. The views across the loch were breathtaking. The cottage was huge, bigger than we expected and had everything we needed. The owner was helpful and responsive. The cottage was a short walk from the small supermarket and hotel. Would stay here again. X
GORGEOUS hotel and I can't even begin with how amazing the food is. Portions are huge and by the end of the meal you are struggling to finish your plate- just because it's so good you don't want it to go to waste. The size of the room was perfect for us, and they left everything we could've needed in there.
Loch Shiel hotel was a lovely place to spend one night on our trip. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was excellent, as was the breakfast. However, what really made our stay were the lovely staff - so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much Joy and all of the team.
The location is ideal - right in the centre of the village of Acharacle, next to the store. The caravan was clean, decently-equipped and good value for money. Off-road parking.
The Cafe Tioram, a couple of minutes' walk along the road, is a great place for breakfast or lunch.
Excellent room - really spacious with a comfy king bed and armchairs. The ensuite was big and immaculately clean. There was a lovely view over the garden to the back and hills to the front. We also really enjoyed the breakfast. Excellent value compared to a lot of hotels.
The location was ideal for our road trip around Scotland. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful we enjoyed the singing chef(a very happy chap). Great value and popular with locals and passing visitors to the area. Breakfast was included and really tasty.
Breakfast and dinner was well worth the cost and was delicious. The room was clean, comfortable and beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. The property was equipped with comforts, plenty of seating in public areas and a well stocked bar.
Such a lovely location to explore the area. We spent time in Kilchoan area and Sunna beach area. Lovely and peaceful! Silver Way is nearby for more beautiful walking.
