The village is surrounded by beautiful woodlands and hills, with well-maintained routes for walkers and off-road cyclists. The community shop is excellent and open surprisingly long hours, while the local pub does excellent food, as do many other pubs in the area. Although in a very rural area, Brechfa makes an excellent touring base by car, with many attractions within half an hour including historic houses, a gold mine, museums and steam railways. The seaside is about 45 minutes away.

Beginning supper in the lounge with canapés so that we met the other guests was a stroke of genius. The food was good and the service friendly and efficient.
