Helmsley is a lovely little market town which benefits from a number of independent traders. Make sure to leave enough time to take advantage of this. Some delightful venacular architecture around the town just has to be studied. Don't rush around - take it at your leisure.

This is a lovely market town with individual shops, and friendly staff. We also did a fabulous walk along the Cleveland Way to Rievaulx Abbey and back.
There is a diverse choice of restaurants in the square, and several pubs/hotels. We had fabulous food at The Feathers Hotel where we stayed, and Bantams Restaurant.

What a perfect location with so much to see and do within a short distance. Great food establishments in town from the Fish n Chip shop to what we think is the best Indian we've ever visited (& we live close to Bradford). Three lovely pubs that are all different & we even find the locals a friendly bunch too.

Local Helmskey micro brewery is good too. Good selection of beers and for those who like them there are cocktails too.
Overall - extremely pleased by the facilities and location of the guest cottage - warm and comfortable, quiet and beautiful surrounds, fabulous views and everything you needed. Tastefully decorated with a blend of genuine quality furnishings and practical touches. Saw a range of wildlife as well as the spectacular scenery. Relaxing back lane drives and many spots to pull over and just drink in the views. Easy access to Helmsley for coffee shops or quick groceries. Some hills are challenging if you cycle!
Stilworth house is in the heart of Helmsley, an absolutely gorgeous town. Our host Carol was wonderful, the breakfast was amazing. Our room was perfect for us and it's situation in the centre of town meant that we could pop in and drop off any shopping etc. Carol gave us excellent recommendations including things to see and places to eat. We absolutely adored the town and are planning our return (hopefully with other family members!). Can highly recommend this wonderful b&b.
Very peaceful and quiet stay. Pets are weocome.Laura our host was on hand if we needed anything. A phone call or text to drop anything off. Very accommodating friendly lady and her son Spencer is a credit to her. Highly recommended.short walk into Helmsley town centre or the open air swimming pool. ( booking online is recommended prior to staying). Hoping to stay again in the near future.
The location was great - near to the square in Helmsley. Hosts Monia and Tony were fabulous and provided a lovely atmosphere. Breakfast was in the coffee shop and literally had choice of anything - fruit and yogurt, scones, bacon butties and drinks in abundance. Room was beautiful and very comfortable. Loved our stay and can’t wait to stay again.
Nice breakfast cooked to order we had dinner for our three night stay and were very happy with the menu although a little expensive for a bottle of wine. The room was comfortable, clean and perfectly adequate for a short stay. We enjoyed our time in Helmsley . Nice hotel pleasant staff in a lovely village with plenty to see and do locally.
Excellent breakfast. Smaller portions, but really top quality food and ingredients. Always more coffee and drinks available if you ask. The hosts Lisa and Harry are very thoughtful and outgoing people, always taking the time to talk to their guests and get to know their needs. This must be the best place to stay in the whole of Helmsley.
Lovely cottage in a lovely setting. Very close to Helmsley for shopping, restaurants etc. Very peaceful. The cottage is very comfortable with good beds and comfy sofa. Nice, modern decor throughout. Lots of attention to detail.
Dave was very helpful and friendly. We would definitely come back here.
I was in Helmsley for a walking weekend. Both Harry and Lisa are outdoor people so understand the needs of walkers. Having facilities for cleaning boots and drying wet rainwear ( which fortunately I didn't need) makes this an ideal base for any walker.
Location is fantastic, right in the heart of Helmsley. Room and food were lovely, the staff are all extremely friendly, couldn't do enough for you. Hotel being dog friendly is fantastic, our Walter got lots of attention and treats.
Lovely heated outdoor pool with good poolside service.
We had the taster menu which was quite good. Breakfast was good too.
Very attentive staff.
Beautiful surroundings.
Hotel decor very pleasant.
Wonderful location in the heart of Helmsley, great for getting out everywhere. Nice big garden, and quiet apart from the lovely sound of the birds. Great local shops and eating/drinking places
Friendly staff. Attractive building in convenient location. Nice food. Impressed by the bathroom - they gave us face flannels! So few hotels do, and I have to carry a wet flannel back home!
Fabulous location in Helmsley, wonderful host, lovely room with a fabulous bathroom - perfect for preparing for and after an ultra run event on the moors.
Lovely cosy cottage. Easy access to Helmsley which has good pubs and restaurants. Good central location for sightseeing. Fantastic views. Quiet location.
