Little John Hotel, hotel in Holmesfield

In the centre of Hathersage, The Little John Hotel provides bed and breakfast and self-catering accommodation in Derbyshire’s Peak District.

Tom gave us a warm welcome on arrival at The Little John Hotel. He served us a drink before showing us to our room, giving us all the relevant information we needed. He was definitely a ‘hands on’ member of staff. Certain areas of our room were showing signs of wear and tear and looked a little grubby, but, the bathroom was very clean and the bed very comfortable. We booked in for an evening meal and we weren’t disappointed. Lots of choice at a very reasonable price. Just what you need after a long walk, a hearty meal. As the food was so enjoyable we ate there both nights of our stay. There was a variety of ‘buffet style’ food on offer at breakfast, between 8.00 – 9.00, which we liked, as you could help yourself to as much or little as you needed. Only downside was that on the 1st morning the beans were cold and the 2nd morning the tomatoes were cold. I assume that this is more than likely to happen when you are catering for large numbers of people, arriving at breakfast at different times. There didn’t appear to be many staff, but, they were certainly very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We wished we had booked for another night and would definitely stay here again.

Lovely solid looking hotel in an elevated position very handy for exploring the area. Large car park and lovely gardens with a contemporay feeling. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and accomodating. Great restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. Evening meal was very tasty and the breakfast was very good. Bedroom was huge with a very modern bathroom. Bed was king sized and very comfy. Bus stop across the road for exploring the area.

We were a party of 3 rooms visiting for a family party on the South side of Sheffield, so this was the perfect location, a lovely quiet village only 3 miles from the venue. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The beautifully decorated rooms were heavenly and of a very high standard: large ensuites, comfortable beds, large screen tv, tea and coffee facilities. We were able to relax in the cosy bar before we left for the party and the next morning, the breakfast was superb and great value for money. It goes without saying that we would love to visit again!

This is a pub with well appointed and private rooms above.

This is a pub with well appointed and private rooms above. Situated in a quiet village, this means it's peaceful and away from the usual tourist hot spots, which is a real benefit. This does mean a drive to get supplies though, although this shouldn't present a problem, given that visiting around the Peak District requires car travel anyway.. Super friendly and helpful staff who definitely go the extra mile. Good food is available accross the road at the Angel Public House/Restaurant. The breakfast is excellent and particularly good value for money.
