Such a lovely little find, so peaceful and relaxing with really stunning views. The Shire was decorated absolutely beautifully, with the perfect mix of modern/cottage style. The hot tub was our original reason for booking but it turned out as a bonus because we only used it once as we actually really enjoyed just being here anyway. It’s located on a farm so you can go and visit the animals which was a nice change from our usual busy city life. There is an honesty shop on site where you could get meat from the farm and borrow any books/board games during your stay. The hosts were super friendly and even left us a little gift hamper with some snacks and fresh eggs from the farm. Unreal stay, 100% would recommend and we are looking forward to booking again and coming back soon.

I had the place to myself and was self-catering, so it was easy to cook, eat, sleep, etc. It is in a beautiful area and very convenient for hill-walking. The place is part of a charity with limited funds and the man in charge was very helpful.

Sarah as a host was fantastic and kept in constant contact. The bed was very comfortable and the facilities are great, we didn’t want for anything, every utensil and essential was there including teas and coffees. The log burner added to the ambiance.

I fell in love with this wonderful little house in a fabulous village. The house had absolutely everything you could need, plus more. The village had a Spar, fish and chip shop, Indian takeaway and a pub, all on it's doorstep. I hope to return.

Beautiful countryside.
Beautiful countryside. Not a lot to do in the village but we find our own entertainment. There are a couple of lovely pubs and cafe. The Church is very interesting, there are lovely walks and the Workhouse is an interesting visit. The local people are very friendly. The Village is quite small but the visit to the Original Workhouse which is 5 minutes down the road is well worth visiting. It was a great hotel in the centre of the village , a few shops but a great base as we were able to visit a few different places like Powis castle , lake Vyrnwy , the food at the hotel was so good that we tended to stay there for the evening and there were lots of people coming in and out of the hotel so a good atmosphere was had, there was also parking at the back of hotel which was free and that is always a bonus, I would definitely recommend the place as u won’t be disappointed, happy holidays

We loved the views down the valley , the gardens, and of course meeting the animals . We also welcomed the hot tub at the end of our working days ! Host Matt was lovely too and kindly sorted out any issues we had ...e.g. lighting the Barbeque, opening the hot tub or accessing TV channels . Diolch yn fawr. ( PS The Spar in Llanfyllin is the nearest store and is well stocked including the 'Cook' range of food ).

Fresh flowers inn all of the public spaces, great food (and plenty of it) at very reasonable prices and dinks were good value too. The room was spotless and the bed really comfortable. If you want a stay in a historic hotel with great charm you'd find it hard to beat this one!
