Great location. Clean, modern, comfortable and very well equipped. We’ve travelled all over the UK and this was our favourite cottage.

We had an excellent cooked to order breakfast. Our room was spacious, quiet and coomfortable. Hotel is well back from the main road so there was no traffic noise. We had a lovely cooked to order dinner on arrival and the staff could not have been more helpful.
The B&B was the best we have ever stayed in. The New Galloway (dark) park was super for walks and views, including a night time view of the stars. Just one of the two visitor centres were open when we visitied in mid-April, but toilets were available at both locations.

New Galloway is just a village, without a lot to see.
New Galloway is just a village, without a lot to see. The river and walks are good, the 'kites' trail is informative. There is a tiny grocery store with limited range, and a pub which I didn't try. Surrounding countryside is quiet, pleasant, and very green. It has good road connections to larger nearby towns. There is a good-sized free car park for the size of village.

Breakfast was fantastic, other meals are not within easy walking distance. Gardens are beautiful and the views of the surrounding area are great. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Local roads are narrow and the nearby bridge is one lane. Drivers are courteous and forgiving. We were upgraded to the larger room as it wasn’t being used. No air conditioning but it was cool at night and an open window was more than sufficient. If we go back to the area we will definitely stay there again. It deserves the excellent rating.

Very well organised if you use the visitor centres.
Very well organised if you use the visitor centres. Surprising home cooked food at the cafes.£3 to park all day. Dark sky is exactly that and a wonderful experience for all ages. Red Deer range very good - take some carrotts and the deer come for them. The two "off road" tracks Raiders Road and Carrick Forest Drive are stunning.
Lovely old hotel in the middle of the village. I called in & asked if I could drop off heavy rucksack & the proprietor Susan said I could check in early. She was very nice to chat with & so helpful. Comfy room & bed, good shower. Everything I needed. Big breakfast. I had a great walk down to Kenmure Castle - fascinating, spooky place in beautiful surroundings (see my photo). Could have very happily stayed for a week!
I loved the welcoming attitude of our host & clean room with great amenities. New Galloway is a bit out in the wilds but it is incredibly scenic and provides a peaceful sleep and great cooked breakfast in the dining room in the morning. There's a smoking area at the back and a local shop as well as a Post Office and café with bar in the arts centre where I had an excellent seminar.
The Stroan is very homely
The furniture and fittings are all of a high standard
The location in New Galloway is quite isolated
But I chose it for that reason
Some nice rural locations to visit
Shop downstairs is really well stocked and is priced reasonably with great friendly service from the ladies who work there
Very comfortable room in a lovely hotel. Situated in a very beautiful part of the country, the hotel was perfect for a quiet stop over on the way to the Belfast ferry. But the best bit was still to come. The breakfast was spectacular - a proper Scottish take on a fried breakfast, complete with haggis. Fantastic!
Ken Bridge hotel is a gem, located in the
Galloway Forest Park adjacent to an activity centre
and lochs, mountains and beautiful countryside.
A lovely, local team behind the hotel kept everything
effortlessly well-oiled — great food, brilliant
accommodation and perfect holiday.
Beautiful house tucked up a private leafy lane. Located on the outskirts of the quaint village of New Galloway on the edge of the Galloway Forest. Fabulous friendly helpful host for whom nothing was too much trouble. Amazing breakfast. Great wifi. Lovely summerhouse.
Tons of space, conveniently located close to the Kenmure Arms and to the centre of New Galloway, very clean, quiet and comfortable, great value for money, ample parking space and outside seating.
The food breakfast/evening meal was excellent. The owners made you feel at home and did everything to make your stay enjoyable. I would thoroughly recommend the Kenbridge hotel.
