Lovely small family run hotel in a great location. The bedroom was spacious and very comfortable. The food was outstanding both at breakfast and evening meal, fresh local produce cooked to a very high standard. There is a true feeling of calm around the hotel where everything is done very efficiently by very friendly staff.

The room we stayed in was just perfect with amazing views, could not have wished for better. We had an evening meal the first night of our stay, wonderful the cullen skink was the best one we have ever had and the rest of the meal was just as good. The breakfast was just as enjoyable with a great choice to choose from. Would definitely recommend having a meal in the hotel not just because it was so good but the views from the restaurant were amazing.

The property was extremely welcoming. You could tell everyone in the pub knew each other, and all of the staff were happily employed there and were looked after by their employer. Everyone was happy to chat to us - both the staff behind the bar and the people using the pub too. The pub was situated in a very quiet area, with the coast literally 30 seconds walk away. The room we stayed in had a huge comfortable bed and large wardrobe. The range of programmes on the TV in the room was also useful. We were concerned when we first arrived to learn we were staying above a pub as we weren’t aware of this before we went, but we didn’t hear a thing. The room was lovely and quiet.

From the moment we walked in the door we felt welcomed and at home. The lounge was cosy & welcoming with a lovely fire burning and Nigel was on hand with a delightful pot of tea. I was in heaven ... so much so hubby was left to unpack the car ... oops 😬 But seriously it was like coming home. Our room was beautiful overlooking the garden and the bed extremely comfy. Nothing not to love. Jackie's culinary skills made leaving the house for dinner a forgotten thought. The optional delicious homecooked dinner was readily accepted and was balm for the soul. The fabulous breakfast was wholesome and filling. There was absolutely nothing not to love about Nether Dallacy Farmhouse, a beautifully restored home oozing charm & character. We would both highly recommend a stay ... wish we were able to stay longer.

A delightful small town on the Moray Firth coast with historic harbour and famous as a film set for Peaky Blinders and Whisky Galore. Easy to walk around the narrow roads to explore the town. Wonderful cliff walks from the town and a very tranquil and beautiful park in the centre. All the basics can be bought in the coop, bakers, and fabulous ice-cream shop. Chinese and fish and chip takeaways, lovely cafes and station hotel serve good food and the charming Port Cafe is a real treat. It's only a short drive to several other charming fishing villages nearby along the coast.

Portsoy is a lovely place, and well worth a visit. The hotel is centrally located, with cafes nearby and Portsoy icecream which is delicious. The last series of “Peeky Blinders” was filmed at the harbour. Recommend a trip here.

Portsoy has a beautiful harbour that is easy to walk around. It can be accessed by car and has parking and toilets, also a pub. You can walk up on to the headland and look out to sea, beautiful views. If you park in the actual town and walk down to the harbour it is a relatively steep hill.

Portsoy was just a suitable distance from home, about 1.5hrs but so completely different from our area. Beautiful rocky coastal scenery with lovely sandy beaches for the warmer weather. It is place to wind down and relax. Long coastal walks, ideal if you have a dog with you. Central to a large number of small coastal villages, each that but different and interesting. Check out Turriff, 11 miles inland, and look for the "Turra Coo". (Google it). The Station Hotel has great food and is popular with locals. A regular Bus Service passes through the town.

Portsoy has a lovely old harbour which is well maintained.
Has been used in recent films.
There are beautiful views of the Moray Forth.
For a small town it has good facilities.
There is a lovely bay with a small caravan site.
The town is well worth a visit.
This is a “quaint” hotel, full of wonderful clutter and still very clean. The room (2nd floor) was perfect for one, cosy for two. Shower/bathroom immaculate and bed and amenities also perfect. Good WiFi if you need it.
Easy parking outside the place and easy walk down to the port or up to the church.
Portsoy is a quiet village, although peaceful is a better description!
Just those pesky noisy seagulls, haha.
I was there on a calm evening, I bet it’s wonderful when the waves are crashing in.
The hotel is well located for the beach, harbour, and all the local facilities. The rooms were really nice and very clean. The breakfast was average but the staff were excellent providing fantastic service. I would definitely go back but unless you can sleep through loud traffic and screeching seagulls take ear plugs!!! Obviously that’s not something the hotel can do anything about and hopefully a set of ear plugs will do the job on our next visit!
Surprisingly good - exceeds initial impressions.
We've never been to Portsoy before so didn't know what to expect.
Hotel was good - friendly & helpful staff, clean large room, good shower.
Parking on road, but with a free car park nearby.
Evening meal in restaurant was very good & not overpriced.
Good bar, good prices & friendly staff & locals.
You HAVE to visit the harbour - & the small pub (The Shore Inn) there !!
We liked everything about Durn House. A beautiful property very tastefully decorated in keeping with it's age. Very good dinner and breakfast. The evening staff looked after us very well and told us about the history of the property and we even met the Chef. Breakfast was brought to our room which was nice. Lovely relaxed bar area too. A short drive to Portsoy which has a beautiful harbour.
Nice location, comfy bed, wonderful breakfast, free parking next to the hotel building. Our special 'thank you' to the staff of the hotel - we really enjoyed our stay and dinner at the hotel restaurant! The food was wonderful and the service was excellent! Would be happy to stay there again.
Great location so close to shops , cafe and hotel. Delightful cottage with comfortable beds, good shower and bathroom facilities. Room to park the car right at the door. Kitchen well equipped for 2 or 3 people, with 4 we would have had to argue over wine glasses! Nice sunny sittiootery.
In the heart of one of the absolute best towns in all of Scotland! The hotel has it all--excellent dinner and breakfast, kind-hearted staff who go way above and beyond, Scottish ambiance, lovely bar on site, and overall superior hospitality. I wish we could have stayed longer!
It was in a great location for us to stop for the night. We were just able to get dinner in before closing. Parking was nice right in front of the hotel with a lovely view of the church across the street. Breakfast was yummy and staff very kind and helpful.
Stayed two nights to explore the area. Hotel decor may be a bit dated but rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast and evening meal in restaurant both enjoyable and good portions. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Small public bar which wasn’t too busy.
Quiet, comfortable, very high spec in a beautiful location. Lovely welcome, very clean and breakfast was fantastic. We had a lovely meal in the local hotel which was just a short walk away. Best night’s sleep we’ve had since we left home. Highly recommend
Location was very central for Portsoy and also great for the harbour.
Great views of the Moray Firth from the rear garden.
The cottage very well equipped and also had a good parking area (1 car only)
Great baker nearby to get your butteries for breakfast.
I have stayed in the Sail Loft on several occasions. It is an outstanding facility and very good value for money. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The location is lovely with an outlook onto the sea and a 3 minute walk away from the town of Portsoy.
The special history combined with comfortable beds and friendly, accommodating staff made our stay well more than worth the drive. I’ll be keeping the Durn House in my file for future visits to Scotland.
