We chose the hotel primarily for the location and the fact that it was the only one with twin rooms available for our dates. The location is great and the staff were very friendly.

Stayed one night as a stop over in a large double room with ensuite. Beautiful property in rural location, good for Elan Valley. The host was really nice and provided an excellent cooked to order breakfast. Small pub a few minutes walk away with friendly staff / locals. Would definitely use it again if in the area. Bare in mind nowhere to eat locally.

Perfect venue for investigating mid Wales and the Elan Valley. Small town but has everything you need for a self catering holiday, the right shops and takeaways if you want them, but if you prefer to go out and be fed, all the pubs serve food. Astonishing area with the mountains, rivers and general countryside. Couldn't ask for more

Five pubs within a stones throw of each other in the main square. My kind of town.
The Crown was excellent and recommended by three different random strangers
Best stocked co-op I’ve ever seen 😆
Friendly people in the shops and pubs.

The Triangle has good food and proper beer.
The Triangle has good food and proper beer. Also The Lamb and Flag serves a good pint of Cwrw. You must visit the 5 reservoirs whatever the weather. We only managed 2 on our 3 day visit as the weather was poor. However as it rained so much the overtopping of Claerwen dam was spectacular to see and hear.

Everything you could need is there.
Everything you could need is there. Friendly welcoming community. Excellent pubs, cafes and takeaways. Good shops. Prices very good. Lots of places to visit.localy. Remember there's no such thing as bad weather just inappropriate clothing. Everywhere is dog friendly.. We love Elan, great visitor centre, with gift shop, not overpriced and a coffee shop with great food, dog and child friendly. Great place to burn off excess energy, walk, bike,or run. Cheap parking, free hour or £3 all day. Lots of wild life and facilities for disabled people.

We came to Rhayader to go round the Elan Valley dams as we do each New Year. This time we decided to stay overnight and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in spite of the torrential rain. Whilst we enjoyed bed and breakfast at The Bear, we dined in the Crown in the evening where the food was excellent and the beer was good as well. The staff were great at the Bear and the Crown.
The Elan Valley and its dams, built to supply Birmingham with water and opened about 120 years ago, just a mile of two from Rhayader are well worth a visit to see the Victorian engineering. The Visitor Centre, as well as serving brilliant bacon baps and a cuppa, also houses a museum and shop where there is so much information about building the dams and the things that you can do in the valley like walking, cycling, bird watching and much more. We had a good time there.

Hafod Hardware shop is a must as its sells an eclectic mix of items and a visit to the tearoom by the clock tower. The only negative would be the lack of understanding of most drivers on how to negotiate the roads around the clock tower !
The Crown is a nice old pub that does good food and has accommodation. It's not a fancy hotel. My room was perfectly fine for my one night stay on a cycling trip. The shower room was a bit tired but very clean and worked perfectly. The single bed was fine for one night.
The Crown staff were very friendly and helpful and stored my bike securely overnight. I enjoyed my evening meal in the bar.
Breakfast was at a nearby café restaurant and I was very happy with the choice, quality, and price.
For a one night stay the Crown is a great place.
Not many accommodation choices in the Elan Valley. The Elan Valley Hotel will not disappoint. The hotel is located near the small Elan Valley township and just a short walk from the Cabin Coch Reservoi and Visitor Centre. The room was clean, our bed was comfortable and the room was well presented. Everything worked and was well maintained. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We opted to have dinner at the Hotel as well and that was also very tasty. Our hosts were warm and engaging. Overall a very pleasant stay.
This place is located on the road between Rhayader village and the dams. It’s secluded and quiet. The village itself is fairly busy and noisy so the quiet is great.
Our room was at the back part of the house. Very roomy with a huge bed. Everything was clean and very comfortable, other than the bathroom.
The hosts do serve a limited menu dinner which was not outrageously priced and was quite good. Breakfast was excellent.
The hosts, including their old dog, are helpful, friendly and worth a chat.
We booked this cottage for over the Christmas period, it was our 1st Christmas holiday away. The Cottage is beautiful and so was the location, right near shops and for nice walks.
The cottage itself was clean, spacious, and everything you need.
The hosts were great and popped in during our stay to set up the hot tub, and even dropped off some beers and fizzy as a gift which was a lovely touch. Would 100% recommend and will return at some point as we loved it so much
Lovely location in the centre of Rhayader so very convenient for shopping or going out for meals. The house is set back from the road and so is very quiet. The area for parking is spacious and there was outdoor seating (suitable for meals outdoors) at both the front and back of the house. The house was very modern, nicely furnished and the kitchen facilities were excellent. The wifi worked really well too. Overall the house was outstanding value for money.
The property itself was amazing, nice and modern and two good sized bedrooms. Kitchen had everything you could need and the hosts had provided milk etc which come in handy. Nice location close to a nice little town if you're not from the area. Food places near by and lots of nice walks for the dog. Hot tub was really good and easy to use.
A real gem! Very comfortable with excellent food. Steve was an excellent host, able to tell you about the history of the house and the area, also happy to arrange evening meals with local hotels if needed. Being in the centre pf Rhayader nothing is more than about a ten minute walk away.
Rhayader is a beautiful community situated near Brecon Beacons National Park. The Guesthouse is within walking distance of the town center. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, breakfast was great, staff were very engaging & helpful. We had a very nice visit.
Sian was a welcoming hostess and cooked a beautiful fresh breakfast in the morning. Clean room and comfy bed. Hotel location excellent, well placed for pubs and restaurants such as the very good Spice Hut.
Very homely and friendly atmosphere and good value. Staff great and evening meal and breakfast in the hotel were both very good.
Adequate parking for 6 large motorcycles at back of hotel.
Lovely room and en suite facilities were wonderful.
Breakfast was first class.
The views from the hotel are breathtaking.
The location is perfect, a short walk from all the facilities.
We enjoyed our dinner there. The room was very nice. The staff was helpful. We would go there again. The hotel is right downtown near a few shops with beautiful historic buildings.
Lovely cottage- comfortable and well equipped. Great location. Always spaces available to park on-street near property. Comfortable beds. Hot showers. Great communication from host.
