Located above its own terraced gardens, The Glenburn Hotel is a Victorian sandstone building which offers panoramic views across Rothesay Bay to the Cowal Peninsula.

As expected, a bit old and well lived in but just what we love. Old victoriana at its best
On the Isle of Bute, St Ebba B&B offers bed and breakfast accommodations with views of Rothesay Bay and Loch Striven, just 1 mile from Rothesay Castle.

We were very impressed when we arrived on Saturday to find that the property was so spacious and very bright. it was really well decorated and nicely furnished, extremely comfortable and everything in it was absolutely immaculately clean , including all the kitchen utensils .
We enjoyed the beautiful views over the castle and the fact that it was so well situated right in the heart of the town, surrounded in good cafes and shops, very handy!
This pet-friendly apartment also has free Wifi. The apartment is composed of 3 bedrooms, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and 1 bathroom. A flat-screen TV is offered.
Rothesay is a beautifal town located on the Isle of Bute.
Rothesay is a beautifal town located on the Isle of Bute. There is plenty to do over a few days. We rented e-bikes and checked out the whole island, from Kilchatten Bay to Ettrick Bay and the town of Rothesay itself. The castle is worth a visit, and if you're lucky you can spot HMS Hoods Anchor just north of the town. Food options are somewhat scarce on the island, pub grub and takeaways are the only things available (there is Bute Yard which hosts pop up kitchens - wholly recommend this place, but I think they operate seasonally).

Rothesay is simply somewhere to chill for few days, yes it's quiet, but if you're of a certain age, this is perfect. Plenty nice pubs/restaurants to try. Isle of Bute has so many hidden treasures. I recommend the Tour bus, nice walks to Lighthouse, Ardbeg, where there is an amazing American diner, Kerrycroy and Ascog are lovely villages to visit too. U can also now take a speedboat ride

I've been coming to Rothesay since 1977, I have a love that will endure forever with Bute. I suppose only thing they need is a Cinema/theatre. Once the Pavillion is fully renovated will definitely attract more visitors

Truly excellent place to visit especially for history buffs, with midget submarines in WW2, to Scotlands first flight by a blacksmith no less, to all the hidden gems of coastline, views. Mount Steuart would take several days to fully explore but a stunning georgian house. With some wonderful cafe's throughout the island, some even more amazing hostelries to dine at It's a place that you will want to return to time and time again.

There's some lovely walks and beaches on Bute, and if you don’t want to do a hike, the beaches and shores are accessible by good public transport links, or bike hire is available. It is a small island so easy to explore, but check bus times as service ends early in the evening.
There are some good shops in Rothesay and nice cafes, although dining options are limited in the evening. There’s a putting green and crazy gold at the front and you can stroll along the promenades. The castle has re-opened and is worth a visit.
The location was fab, so central for everything. Apartment was spotless and very spacious with windows you could open for lovely Rothesay air. Appliances seemed like brand new and were very easy to work! Bathroom and kitchen were exceptional and finished to a very high standard. I left my hat in the apartment and contacted owner to ask if it had been found and it was sent to me a couple of days later. Such a kind thing to do and I was so grateful. Exceptional service and accommodation!
Room was very comfortable and supplied with tea/coffee and biscuits, slippers are also supplied,we had booked the room with the balcony but it is in fact a large private terrace with plenty seats and a table with amazing views, the ferry terminal is 2 minutes walk away as is the town centre, the owners David and Amy are lovely and the freshly cooked breakfast in the morning was delicious using fresh local produce, highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.
Everything. The location was perfect, right across from the water, and within walking distance to Rothesay. The house itself is roomy and has everything you could want. The grounds are spacious and Carolynn and John encourage you to play on the front lawn with the various garden games they provide in the shed next to the house. They are very kind and provide little touches such as milk and biscuits, shampoo and conditioner and even disposable barbecues.
Breakfast was cooked to order, with a good choice. My wife likes fresh fruit each morning and this was available. Our room was spacious; the bed was very comfortable; en-suite facilities were excellent. Tea & Coffee supplied in the room for us to use when we wished was most welcome. The hotel is beautifully situated on the waterfront with only a 5-minute walk into Rothesay along a nice palm-tree-lined promenade - what is there not to like about that?
everything! location within walking distance of the town and easy access to the countryside and costal paths, the views from the property overlooking the harbour/town, the property is beautifully maintained and provides you with a warm family welcome, the rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and provide great facilities. The property is the home of a wonderful family who make you feel special and welcomed to the Isle of Bute.
Beautiful House in Stunning Location. So relaxing watching the ferry coming and going at the picture window.
House was Immaculate and the owners have paid attention to every detail with lots of extras.
Didn't want to leave had an amazing holiday the Best accommodation I have been to in Rothesay by far.
First Class and more.
Owners were so helpful and friendly. Will be back soon 😁😍
The Victoria Hotel on the Isle of Bute offers a prime location with its breathtaking marina and ocean views, especially from the lounge dining area where you can truly appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. Our room was on the 2nd floor; do note that the hotel does not have a lift, which wasn't a problem for us but might be worth considering for those with mobility issues.
I especially liked owner of Hotel/Guest House, Jane, was so informative, very attentative to all my needs(don't mention WiFi 🤣🤣🤣) Breakfast served efficiently every morning, with help from Caroline. Not forgetting friend I made in alfie the dog. I would definitely recommend the Ardyne to anyone looking for quality for their money. Thank you again Jane xx
The views were amazing, breakfast was delicious, the 50s decor was outstanding in its detail, the room and bathroom were spotless and the bathroom had the facilities equal to a 4 star hotel. Finally, the host was charming and very helpful and made our stay very relaxing.
Terrific hotel and hosts, really accommodating. We went with our 2-year old and made to feel very welcome - a very cosy family feel. Also ideal location for exploring and for getting into Rothesay for dinner. Will definitely be going back when next on Bute. Thank you!
Comfortable, spotless, catered for every need. Linen smelled lovely and fresh, fabulous hospitality .
The family who own it are so lovely. Ideally placed in Rothesay and would be even better in summer and is fabulous value for money.
I liked everything about the hotel. The waterfront view from our room was lovely. The staff were very helpful. The breakfasts were more than adequate in addition to being delicious.
Central location, room was beautiful overlooking the bay, Kristine and her staff were excellent. We would definitely recommend it and stay again if/when we are back in Rothesay.
