For £80 with breakfast included, friendly staff and good location this was ideal for our needs. Property was interesting and characterful. Plenty of original features, which we liked. Breakfast room was lovely and sunny. Breakfast okay. Room was really nice in many ways. Bed clean and comfortable.

We were delighted to find Guestling House! The owners are so friendly - as are the chickens and ducks that roam free range around the site during the day. Altogether it was a charming place in a lovely setting, overlooking lots of land for their vineyard.
A taxi from the Fairlight end of Hastings was £10 after midnight and there was ample free parking on-site - with the number of rooms it would never be full.
There was a honesty box for slices of cake and flapjack to help yourself to, and a variety of other items for sale, including fizz and cider that appeared to be produced on site.
Rooms were comfortable and well-equipped - 7 rooms in total. Some have a dedicated separate bathroom rather than an en suite, but these were adjacent to/opposite the bedroom, so easy to access and maintain your privacy.
Although the website said no breakfast, there was an option of a complimentary breakfast basket to be left outside your door at 7am. This contained fresh milk, apple juice (presumably home-made), cafetiere (for you to make when you are ready) savoury and sweet pastries, and fruit. This could be eaten in your room or outside on the decked area overlooking the garden.
There was a very comfortable communal sitting room with a large TV and ample seating - you could book out the whole place and use this for e.g. family gathering.
The cost was also great value.

The Chequers is in a great location for visiting Battle. It is within walking distance of The Abbey, the Battlefield, the station and Battle high street.
The rooms are very comfortable and clean and the pub has lots of traditional features like creaky floors and low ceilings because of the age of the building.
All the Staff were very helpful and friendly and the food is delicious.

The Brickwall hotel holds a commanding position at the top of a small village main street overlooking a small green. There is one other pub/hotel and a general food store/post office...local drama soc and appears to have an active community.it the Village hall. I guess it's an excellent venue for weddings and parties.

Lovely village, with a great friendly pub with excellent food- we were only down 4 nights visiting a cousin and ate at the Queens Head twice. On this occasion we didn't see the geese on the village green, but ths might have been for safety reasons regarding bird flue.

The Brickwall hotel was dated and not very dog friendly due to being segregated at all meals. They also expect you to pay a set price for evenings there wasn’t a separate for menu so you had to pay up to £30 plus. Best thing about Sedlescombe is the Queens head pub amazing food amazing stuff great place to visit every day we was there we ate at the Queens head rather than the hotel has better choice.

Not a place to make the destination but a good base for visiting the surrounding area. We had a wine tasting visit locally & also visited Winchelsea & Rye. Bodium Castle is nearby. The pub in the village & the local shop were both good.
The whole experience was excellent from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble. All of the staff were exceptional in their dedication to providing the best of everything for their guests. The food was outstanding. We stayed for five days and ate in the restaurant for four of them. Every meal, including breakfast was superb, and the waiting on staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. The rooms were clean throughout and very comfortable. I would not hesitate to go back again and would definitely recommend this hotel.
Nice accommodation, friendly service, ideally located for sightseeing. We had a lovely room but realised at around 11:00 at night it had no curtains. Offered a change, but who wants to move at that time of night. Problem was rectified the next day but disappointed when it came to paying the bill. Nothing taken off and only 6% taken off when queried, but don't let this put you off - great hotel, nice people and great breakfast both mornings
Excellent, friendly and prompt service at reception, bar and restaurant. Varied menus and high standard of cuisine. We enjoyed the comfort and unique setting and environment of this hotel. We found the staff friendly and clearly anxious to provide first class service, which they all provided to the highest standard.
The hotel was genuinely dog friendly (so many places say dog friendly but I would describe them as dog tolerant). All staff took time to make us and our dog feel welcome and he even enjoyed a sausage for breakfast! We had an evening meal which was very good.
The hotel was very dog friendly and even kindly found a place for us where the dog could be with us when we had breakfast without getting in the way of other customers. The woman on reception even promised the dog a sausage, which he greatly appreciated :)
Our rooms were very clean and had nice character expected of a hotel of this era. Staff were very friendly on every encounter...check in, needing some assistence in the breakfast room, and getting advice on local places to visit.
We loved everything about the golf hotel. There was a lovely lady that helped us upon arrival, then helped us with cab number, then at breakfast also was very attentive. She is worth her waiting gold.
The hotel is full of character dating back to Tudor times. Lovely oak beamed restaurant, great food, friendly staff and a very clean and comfortable room. Would definitely stay at the Brickwall again.
Excellent hotel with great breakfasts and friendly staff in very lovely surroundings of the golf course. Vies are great and I'd be happy to recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
The hotel is spacious in lovely surroundings.
The restaurant menu was varied, and we really enjoyed our dinner and the friendly service. The cooked breakfasts were exceptional!
Lovely Small hotel.. staff were helpful and polite.. room was clean & comfortable !! Good choices for breakfasts... Selection of restaurants close by..
The hotel was away from the clubhouse and in a quiet spot which was nice. The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable.Stayed in a queen room.
