The Parr’s Bank Hotel, hotel in Widnes

Set within 13 km of Haydock Racecourse and 19 km of Tatton Park, The Parr’s Bank Hotel provides rooms in Warrington.

A newly refurbished and fitted out hotel in an old bank that is just starting out. The first thing that stands out is that EVERYONE cares and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are superb and very comfortable and immaculately clean. The bathroom likewise. The restaurant is small but the food is at the high end in terms of quality and presentation. Proximity to Warrington Central Station makes it a great venue for exploring the wider area or as accommodation for work. A great find and well worth considering.

The room was awful we booked a double room when we arrived there were 2 single beds. We told reception who said they would sort it. All they did was push the 2 beds together. Very lumpy and very uncomfortable. The hot tap didn't work the shower was a drizzle, cracked floor tiles, dirty disgusting and disgraceful. We have plenty of photos to back this up. We were looking for a bin to put our rubbish in, we found a tiny little thing that fitted 1 small empty bottle of water. The wardrobe was that inadequate it couldn't fit a normal size hanger in it and we had to share it with the ironing board. The lift was dirty disgusting. When we went for breakfast the following morning every tray was empty there was no bread no orange and no hot water, after waiting for 5 minutes we had to look for a member of staff who apologised and eventually everything was filled. Would I book this hotel again No Would I recommend this hotel No. Star rating -1

The hotel is tired and in need of refurbishment, a process which has begun in the lobby area by the looks of things. The first floor area and bedroom carpets need replacing; in any case looked like they could do with a good vacuuming on a regular basis; didn't see any been used there except for the lobby. Breakfast was ok and reception was ok. Car park again is badly in need of being resurfaced. Perhaps this will be a future phase of the on-going refurbishment. My guess is that the hotel has suffered from the effects of lack of funds due to COVID and for that the management may not be entirely responsible and are coping as best they can.

Widnes is not a tourist destination.

Widnes is not a tourist destination. Most visitors are there for business or to visit family/friends. There are some interesting museums in Widnes/Runcorn and it is a good jumping-off point for locations in Cheshire, Liverpool and North Wales.

Widnes is not a holiday resort, it’s a place to go on business, to break up a longer journey or visit family, which was the reason for my visit. We did eat in the hotel restaurant; it was fine although service a little slow on our first night. Traveling around Widnes can be tricky if you don’t know where your going (lots of road changes/development). If for any reason you plan to cross the river Mersey on the new Mersey Flow Bridge you need to pay up front online. Type in ‘ ‘MERSEY FLOW’ There are some nice walks and great views of the bridges at West Bank area.

I used to live in Runcorn and now find that all the road...

I used to live in Runcorn and now find that all the road systems are really different. I appreciate where the Everglades is as coming down from Scotland can be really complicated and is central to where I needed to be. The new road systems in Widnes and Runcorn are really different and quite scary, especially when you don't know where you are going! Perhaps a map might help? Everyone has sat navs but if you don't know where you're going it doesn't help. Just a suggestion as us older people like maps. Pesto was a great restaurant, a bit complicated but the food was lovely. Norton Priory in Runcorn, well worth a visit, lovely place. We did a Creperie in Prestatyn High Street, lovely, really enjoyed it, but huge portions so beware. So different from when I lived down here!

The property has all the amenities needed to comfortably spend a few nights. Ideal if you have got a car, as it’s got its own private driveway and it’s a quick drive to both Liverpool and Manchester. The host was very kind and thorough. A big plus was how clean the property was, including all the towels and bed linen which is something very uncommon in many accommodations across the UK. Will definitely stay again if travelling to the area again. A few food items made available by the host for breakfast were a nice plus.

Very conveniently situated and has a large car park. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The Bar area was comfy. Service was a little slow in the evening as the barman doubled up as door security and reception. Breakfast was good though the menu was not clear. It only offered fried eggs until the waitress told us they could be poached or scrambled. Overall, it's a good place to stay. It could be a brilliant hotel with a bit of TLC. It just needs updating.

This is a great house in the centre of Widnes, very close to the shops and park. It was super clean and well presented. There was a downstairs bedroom (as well as two upstairs) meaning anyone not wishing to climb stairs could stay. The breakfast food left in the property were a lovely addition and a good verity too. I did wonder if it would feel noisy as close to a main road, but it really wasn't at all. The host was lovely and available to answer any questions.

Staff are great,.our room was okay, heating was broke but a portable radiator fixes that issue. Bathroom was dated and the shower pressure could be better, but it was all clean and that for me is more important than modern. The hotel has completely refurbished the bar and added a nice covered outdoor area, attached to the bar by bifold doors, in the summer I can only imagine it will be very nice.

Exceeded expectations, from communication to the little details. Everything made a perfect stay. The children's play area made the visit even more enjoyable for my 3 year old. She spent most of her time in the playhouse. The place was spotless. Everything was modern,. No detail overlooked. A real home from home. So much better than a boring hotel room definitely booking again. X

Location was perfect especially for Finch Farm my son loved going to see the Everton players there :-) The apartment felt very homely and parking was so easy and convenient and it’s great for access to A roads and motorways to get around the local area and into Liverpool city centre. the bathroom and bedroom was great and the small garden there was great also for my son.
