The food was tasty, and of a good standard. Loved the location, view right across to the bay at Plymouth.
Just off the A38, with easy access to Plymouth's city centre, Dartmoor and the beaches of Devon and Cornwall, the hotel offers great value, with free parking and a restaurant and bar.

If you don't enjoy travelling along narrow lanes or you have a new car you don't want to scratch, use the Newnham Industrial estate to Newnham Road and use the B3417 to Lee Moor and on to Wotter.

The countryside is wonderful , seeing all the sheep and horses in their natural habitat. Being able to walk through the countryside with not too many cars on the road is great. The tranquil settings make it an ideal place to stay

Wotter is a village near Shaugh Prior on the south western edge of Dartmoor, in the English county of Devon.
Wotter has a hotel (The Moorland Hotel), a GP surgery, chapel and hall, and play area. The church hall houses a part-time Post Office service, which began operating there a few months after the village's post office closed in 2004. It is also used for Shaugh Prior Parish Council meetings. The chapel was founded as a Methodist church in 1939, sharing a minister with two other villages. After the church closed, it was bought by a Christian family and reopened as Wotter Community Chapel.
The staff are super friendly and helpful. We were nervous about eating in the restaurant so they set up a table for us outside. The views from the bedrooms are fabulous, right across the valley to Plymouth Sound. As the hotel is right on the moor it is ideal for walkers and cyclist as well as visiting Plymouth, South Devon and Dartmoor. The beds were very comfy and the shower hot. The food is good and breakfast was well organised so you don’t have to spend too long in the restaurant if you don’t want too, also a take away option.
Our travel plans were delayed so we arrived at the hotel outside the hours when the reception was open. Plans were made by the hotel to accommodate this without fuss or complaint. We had a very good breakfast (which you do need to order in advance) and all the staff were lovely.
We stayed for just one night on a stopover for the Plymouth ferry and this was perfect. Location very quiet and the views from the room were fabulous.
Food was outstanding and really really really good value. They accommodated me at evening meals although I am a very fussy vegetarian, and went out of their way to make me a meal that they didn't even have on the menu. Breakfast was outstanding also although I would have preferred a fake meat sausage and not the vegetable filled sausage. Eggs clearly free range and poached eggs were beautiful.
Staff were excellent - friendly and welcoming, room was comfortable and met expectations, breakfast was very good and the restaurant was superb and they went out of their way to accommodate vegan options. Also we had our Golden Retriever with us which was no bother to them - a very pet friendly hotel - well done
Stayed thru my work with a colleague, not leisure. Arrived late and early start. Lovely place, very remote! Good stay, noisy neighbours but that’s not hotels fault. Staff exceptional, helpful and friendly. Lovely breakfast. Would recommend this hotel
I only had breakfast. The chef and manage were super friendly and efficient. I ordered breakfast when I checked in. Not many hotels cook an omelette so it's always good when I have one.
Friendly service and nice atmosphere.
Friendly atmosphere, booked in without a problem and bill was ready on my departure. Breakfast on time and the overall impression was well organized hotel and staff.
