Shandon Hotel & Spa, hotel in Dunfanaghy

Refurbished in 2016, the Shandon Hotel & Spa is situated in the small village of Dunfanaghy and offers a wonderful views of the Sheephaven Bay and a luxury spa.

We were absolutely delighted with our complimentary upgrade. Our room was beautifully appointed, with the most spectacular views. All of the staff we interacted with were kind and helpful. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to use the gorgeous spa. Dinner and breakfast were really nice, again, lovely staff and great presentation. I can see why the hotel has such a great reputation around the north of Ireland.

Fairway Haven, hotel in Dunfanaghy

Set in Dunfanaghy in the Donegal County region, Fairway Haven features a patio and lake views. The property has sea and mountain views, and is 1.2 km from Killahoey Beach.

We absolutely loved Fairway Haven. The house itself has everything a family would need! Plenty of space & ensuite bathrooms in two rooms with two additional bathrooms( one upstairs & one downstairs) , lots of spare towels/ toiletries provided even though we did bring our own......lovely sunroom which was perfect for drying clothes overnight. Living area was so well equipped with a smart TV, games, books ,Nintendo game systems, even colouring books & markers! Kitchen was well laid out again with great facilities, we got a food shop on the way to the house & we could cook as / when we wanted..suited us with four boy's. Great heating system that was easy to use once I figured it out, loved the fact you could have constant hot water 😬Washing machine was so easy to use & great for keeping on top of the washing. Jack had the heating on for our arrival which was a lovely touch. He was an excellent host & got straight back to me anytime I needed to ask something, I did annoy him a few too many times I'm sure! Not that he complained. We would love to make a return visit , boy's are already talking about it. It's situated in such a scenic area, lots to do..some of which we enjoyed was Ard's Forest Park, Marble Hill beach & we even ventured future afield to Wild Ireland & Tropical World at Alcorn..The village was close by to the house with lovely cafes, shops & takeaways. I don't think we've ever been anywhere quite as beautiful, scenery was just out of this would in Ard's Forest Park, it has the most beautiful trails , beach & play area. Even a coffee shop situated beside the carpark. I've highly recommended this house to my family & friend's already. Coco the dog next door was a big hit with the boy's too 🙂

Dunfanaghy itself could have maybe another shop or two for appealing to tourists. I noticed bus trips stop there. Unfortunately a derelict hotel opposite Arnold’s hotel is a bit of an eye sore. Have heard it may have been purchased by a new owner so that may improve things.Arnold’s itself has good outdoor appearance. In general seems a friendly community , and near a number of picturesque and beautiful beaches.

I love Donegal and would never leave without a visit to the old workhouse for a coffee, a browse in the craft shop and maybe pick up a used book or two. A staff member recommended a lovely walk this time around as well. Another favourite is a visit to Ards Friary, lovely coffee there too after a walk along the sea and a visit to the beautiful little beach, perfect for the grand-children so will have to let them into the secret. Ostan Loch Altan in Gortahork is a great wee place to eat and very reasonably priced too.

Very busy this time due to heatwave & the fact people had missed out on earlier holidays this year. The beaches in Co Donegal are fabulous. We ate in “ The Cove”, Arnold’s hotel & The Shannon hotel Yes, easy to get round Dunfanaghy - just a long Main Street. We would avoid week- ends too busy!

Loved our stay at Annes house. The house itself has absolutely everything you could need. Kitchen has every type of utensil you could think of. Beds were very comfortable, house was very clean. Anne was great to communicate with as well, Very prompt and helpful! The house itself is set about 8 minutes drive from Dunfanaghy, We liked that we were a bit outside of the town, you would definitely not get the views or peace and quiet if you were in the centre. We Would love to come back!

The location is great, easy to access, at the edge of Dunfanaghy and is very quiet and peaceful at a loughside. The Mill has a lovely, mellow feel and is calm. The bedroom was very comfortable and I liked that there was water in the bedroom, as well as homemade oatie biscuits. The breakfast buffet was carefully displayed with a good range of options, overnight oats, smoothies etc. and there was superb range of cooked breakfast options. My full Irish cooked breakfast was perfection.

This place was a slice of Paradise. It's more like a quaint hotel than a B&B. I traveled back to visit home in Ireland with my partner from Texas. He had never been and was amazed by this place too. HIGHLY recommend it. The staff were really friendly. Breakfast was gorgeous. The first morning I had a full Irish, then next I had smoked Atlantic salmon and scrambled eggs all of which were cooked to perfection. They also had interesting things like vanilla seaweed pudding.

We loved our stay at The Mill. It is a beautiful and extremely comfortable property, with lovely gardens and a stunning view over the lake. Our hostess made us feel very welcome and shared good advice about nearby points of interest. We enjoyed excellent breakfasts in the warm, sunny dining room. There is a comfortable sitting room and also a conservatory where guests can relax, read a book, or share a glass of wine without feeling crowded in together.

This house was very spacious, clean and stocked with everything we needed for our short stay. The hosts thought of everything with plenty of food in the kitchen, towels in the bathrooms and lots of books and colouring books for kids. The location was very good, a short walk to Port na Blagh and a short spin into Dunfanaghy. We had a great time here and would highly recommend staying here.

There is a recycling bin that allows for segregation of rubbish and reducing black bin waste. The location is the major plus as the property is only a short stroll into Dunfanaghy, which is a treasure of a town in Donegal. The property was larger than expected and no problem with parking.
