Doing a 2 month roadtrip around Europe and with so much to see we chose Bologna as a five day base from which we could explore. Location, outside of the city, was perfect for us and was very easy to find off of the main motorway. Private parking was big and secure and the apartment was very well equipped with A/C and shutters.
There isn't a great deal local as mostly Industrial but that suited us as we were out all day and used the kitchen to prepare evening meals after the long days.
The train station is about a 10 minute walk and then it is only 10 more minutes into Bologna Centrale at a cost of only €1.50.
From here we were able to get trains to Venice, Florence and Pisa.
Communication was great and, when we had a little car trouble on departure day, host was very helpful and flexible.
Apartment gave us just what we needed at a fraction of what it would cost to stay centrally especially if driving.

It's a rather remote, quiet town. Nothing to draw one to except quiet and near the Bologna airport. I ended up choosing to heat up a packaged curry/rice meal from the supermarket, as the only other choice (since I didm't have a car) was a pizzeria.

We used this place as a starting point to visit: - the historic centre of Bologna (20 min. by a car) - Ferrari Museum in Maranello (50 min.) - Lamborghini factory and museum in Santa Agatha (20 min.) Airport: For some, it may be important that this place is near the airport of Bologna. Restaurant: From the accommodation we got a tip about the restaurant Ristorante Pizzeria "Itaca" in Calderara di Reno - excellent 👍 (10min. by a car) Visit Bologna: Bologna is a very busy town with narrow streets. I strongly do not recommend going into the historic centre by a car. Use the underground garages on the outskirts of the historic centre - e.g. on Via Riva di Reno and then walk

As the airport is close to hotel, transfer service could be provided. Noise isolation is totally poor. Other guests are constantly migrating (at night too, obviously), so it is not quiet for having some rest. Hotel hosts should allocate rooms more rationally. We have booked and paid for breakfast, unfortunately we did not get it at the check out morning, because we had to leave before 7am. (Receptionist said, that it is too early regarding to their rules). Even though the restaurant was already open! It could have taken several minutes to make a sandwitch or a bun with a cup of tea or coffee!

It is clean but do no t trust it when they call a cab for you. Make sure it is a proper taxi. The ride to the airport was about 5 minutes and the man charged me 15 euros. That was wrong. Make sure you do not accept a vehicle without the taxi logo. The front desk staff was not welcomingAAnonymousItaly
