The hotel is at the end of some bad roads toward the sea just south of Sibari off the main highway between Reggio Calabria and Taranto. It is a nice hotel, quite uniquely constructed: rooms are situated on the hotel roof and radiate off separate halls. The owner/operator was a really nice man who was very hospitable and seemed genuinely caring. He recommended an excellent seafood restaurant my first night, Lido Aurora, where I had two meals, It was close and so good. The owner also got up really early on the morning of my leaving to make coffee for me and offer me breakfast and that was so beyond the call and so appreciated. The room, though small, was immaculate and maid-service occurred every day. Based on that rare, old fashioned hospitality, I rate the Miramare a solid 7.5, not 7. If you're going to the area of Sibari, this hotel is an excellent option especially for couples.

The staff were exceptionally helpful. Our train was delayed 1.5 hours, so we missed connections and did not arrive in Sibari until very late. Hotel staff met us at the train station and brought us to the hotel several km away. They then took us to a restaurant for dinner, despite the late hour. They also took us back to the train station in the morning. This service was above and beyond. We are very thankful for their excellent hospitality.
