This place is exceptional. The staff are all wonderful and kind. They made us feel welcome from the first moment we arrived. The rooms are lovely with a sea view that is just gorgeous! The breakfast was excellent, with lots of nice taste treats! There’s a bus stop going to either Shirahama Beach or into Shimoda very close by (1-2 minutes walk). There’s a swimming pool, bar and an onsen on site. This place just can’t be faulted!

Went to Shimoda mid Sept which was lean season for summer adventure so less people around. It offers good beaches and many water activities. Stayed for a week which gives us relaxing time to enjoy the beach and places to see.

Great town right on the coast, has a number of great beaches nearby and beautiful rocky coastlines and cliffs to see. It is more of a tourist town though, so expect prices of things to be high. Be ready to hear constantly about Commodore Perry and the Black Ships! Some things require you to sign up or buy tickets well in advance; it's worth looking up anything you're interested in trying beforehand to see if it does.
Best coffee we had was at the Hana Cafe, best food was the South Cafe.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Beach Inn Shirahama.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Beach Inn Shirahama. It's right across the street from a lovely beach and the breakfast was quite nice. We loved the 2 outdoor onsens that are built on the 1F. Great to watch the stars from there amidst the treetops!
Would not hesitate to stay here again. Staff was limited on English but went above and beyond to communicate with us. Staff even came out and “chatted” with the kids and I while my husband checked it. Pool and Onsen was amazing. Wish we would have tried the massage parlor or the restaurant at the hotel but simply didn’t have time. I dont know if it’s customary in all Japanese hotels but I LOVED that they set up and took down your Japanese style beds every day.
Awesome location. Walking distance to Shirahama beach. Clean and quiet surroundings. Clean room and toilet. Decent parking space. The manager Kazu/Smily is very polite and friendly and most importantly can speak English. He is an awesome didge player as well. The whole atmosphere at the place is amazing. The lounge area is a chill place.
This hotel is close to the railway station with just 25 mins walk, and if you want to take the black ship it only takes about 15 mins’ walk. Several restaurants are near and there’s a 711 around, so very convenient. The hotel is equipped with everything you need, and it’s owner is a very kind and helpful lady which understands Chinese.
We had a wonderful stay, very easy. The hotel is just across the road from the beach, it has a lovely and sweet atmosphere, breakfast is good (handmade bread is exceptional!). The onsen are just perfect to relax after the day. The staff were very helpful when needed, and discreet. Just the perfect place!
Very nice guesthouse at top location with amazing views. Shimoda is a really calming place - would definitely stay here again. Everything is clean and the common space is good to meet other people too. Twin room was great. Also the owner is so nice and helpful!! Highly recommended
Great location (short walk to the main station and the centre of the town; bus stop to Shirahama beach) and we loved the private onsen! Everything was clean with many fresh towels for every day of our stay.
We had the private room with futon beds which were thick and comfortable.
Really spacious living space with a real beach house feel. Location is excellent as just a short walk to the beach and a couple of very good cafes. The house was immaculate and had all the amenity we required. Host was very helpful with advice on what to do
- unbeatable price for such a large room
- breakfast and dinner were included, both buffet style, Japanese and western
- very quiet during the night
- great location, considering it is 10 minutes of walk from JR Shimoda station and close to the sea
Beautiful guesthouse with lovely caring staff in an idyllic location overlooking the beach. Facilities were nice and comfortable. Recommended spot for watersports rentals and close to the aquarium and beaches. BBQ area is a cute bonus but byob
Super close to the beach (walking distance), we were able to store our surfboard on site. Parking on site and free. Onsen on site. Restaurant right next to the hotel. Great living room area to eat and chill in. Would stay again!
We went here for a weekend trip to the Shimoda area, it's a nicely decorated place in surf-style, the host was nice and even let us pick our room-style. The location is right in front of a bus stop and very close to the beach.
The hotel sits on top of a hill, which provides a relatively good view of the surrounding. We got the lower floor, so we were only able to see the sea partially.
