Staff so friendly and helpful, amazing location , walking distance of everything but cause it was raining the pick up/drop off shuttle from station was super useful. Beautiful traditional breakfast and dinner, and the onsen (outdoor and indoor) were fantastic. You also get to choose your yukata! It was a great experience, wish we stayed longer.

Myuki-san and her family and staff were so helpful and accommodating. The onsen was lovely, witth both outdoor and indoor pools at different temperatures. Japanese breakfast was exceptional and beautifully presented, likewise full dinner.

The food was amazing, service top notch and the location very very central. The outdoor bath was spotless and the private outdoor bath is very nice and new. We would absolutely stay again.

We had a great one night stay in their deluxe suite. When we arrived after being picked up from the train station, we were given a nice tour of the hotel and room. The room was wonderful, with a beautiful view of the mountains from the outdoor bath. The room was well appointed, had plenty of space, and had very comfortable beds. We were served both dinner and breakfast. Both meals were delicious with the multi-course dinner being the highlight. As expected, not all of the staff spoke English, but the staff that did were very wonderful. Our stay here was short, so we were not able to take advantage of all the amenities such as the restaurant and public onsen; however, the room and staff were great and I would highly recommend a stay here. Upon leaving, we were escorted to the provided transportation by the owner. She performed saikeirei as we left.

I did a one day trip, I went there just because of the naturals onsen, and it was the best decision, I arrived about 10:00 at leave at the same time of the next day. Honestly I don't think is a trip for more than 3 days.
Gero is a beautiful city, it has a few museums that can be seen in one period of the day. As the city is small, it doesn't need car or bus to go around if no one has fiscal disabilities.
This was my second time at Japan, and I regret not going to Gero the first time as well.

Out of all the places we ate in, I think we enjoyed eating in Unasho the most. They serve unagi, which is a specialty of Nagoya, their neighboring prefecture. There are some negative reviews about unasho, about how it's not value for money, but I don't think so. On our return trip, we passed through Nagoya station and ate in one of the famous unagi places in Nagoya called Maruya Honten. We preferred the unagi from Unasho, it was cleaner and prepared better because you felt the fishbones less in your mouth when you chewed.
The hot pudding from Yuamiya was TO DIE FOR. We came back twice to the shop during our trip so that we could eat it again and again.

If you love pudding, onsen or frogs, Gero is definitely the place to stay! The hot Hida milk pudding is absolutely delicious. There is a cute little frog shrine and lots of frog related souvenirs, cookies and street decor. There are public foot baths, great hot sprins and enough places to get a decent snack.
I can highly recommend La Vita e Bella. This is an italian place in Gero. The staff were absolutely adorable. They spoke English really well and they actually had a proper English menu.

Gero is located in the Center of the Gifu Region. Small and very beautiful place, with unforgettable landscapes. The hot springs are scattered throughout the city and you can use them all the time. It is possible to walk the entire city on foot. Plenty of restaurants and shopping options.

In Gero itself there are just a few sights to go to. However you can easily stay there to discover Takayama or other close sights. Also there are every hot springs were you can either dip in your feet, hands or just jump in with whole body.
The beautiful location in the woods (yet close to the city, 4~ mins).
The spectacular labyrinth-like structure of the whole hotel that makes you want to explore it entirely (reminded us of The Shining hotel). They even have a gamified "quest" of collecting stamps in different parts of the building to make you visit memorable spots.
The surprising victorian furniture of the Karaoke room and its very friendly employees, had a great night singing and drinking in there.
The size of the room.
The location.
The staff - probably top of my list on all the hotels I have been to.
The building inside was incredible. An indoor and an outdoor public bath - spotlessly clean. I took a bath just after dawn in the outside onsen. The sound of the river and the chirping of the birds was exquisite and set me up for the day.
The private dining room for all guests. The member of staff who served us.
Why go to the commercial onsen when this might be a possibility?
We will be back.
3 incredible Onsen to choose from, almost didn't have enough time with my 1 night stay. The facilities are top class, with a variety of utilities on site like a souvenir store, mini arcade, a small gym. The whole building is obviously on the older side, however is also charming, reminding you that this place has been the centre of a relaxing holiday for many people before us.
It was a nice and spacious compound, with a nice garden overseeing the river and even a foot bath outside for you to enjoy the cool air and soak your feet. The room was big we also had the room overlooking the town of Gero. Very pretty scenery! There was also a large parking available. We had dinner and breakfast and were impressed by both meals too.
The guesthouse is occupied by an elderly couple. Even if the communication was a bit difficult (They speak little english and I speak little japanese) they were always very kind and helpful. A free little breakfast was included every morning, and they washed and dried my clothes for me free of charge.
All in all a very warm and welcoming service.
Loved everything!!! We had a lady from Napal that was our room attendant. She was absolutely wonderful and very kind. She set up our meals and helped us to understand hotel. All staff were wonderful. This town is so cool to visit. Next time we will come in summer to visit other little mountain towns nearby. Make sure you get the hot pudding!!!
It was a 2 minute walk from the station. Our host was very helpful with allowing us to leave our luggage there earlier in the day before we checked in and he made good recommendations on where to visit. We got the onsen pass ♨️ and where able to enjoy some very relaxing soaking.
The facility was very quiet and a great value for our money.
I like everything, including the host, staff members, the room and facilities, meals with personalised menu, the onsen and the beautiful scenery. The hotel is located just opposite to the Ideyu Morning Market and a few minutes walk from the Gero Onsen Gassho-mura, a cultural heritage that shouldn't be missed if travelling to Gero.
The staff are amazing, the outdoor hot spring is truly beautiful at night, and the included meals are incredible. Because it is smaller than many of the resort hotels, you feel like you are getting the full Ryokan experience. The staff knew who we were our entire stay.
Great location in Gero, nice traditional room and relaxing onsen baths. The staff were friendly and the food (breakfast and dinner) on both days was excellent; they even did their best to accommodate my vegan sister's diet, she was really pleased.
Hospitality of the staff, cozy room with a comfortable futon and tatami mats, family-owned atmosphere. The hot spring water in the onsen was fantastic, despite the bath being a bit small. Breakfast was fantastic!
Fantastic! Located in the heart of the mountain and overlooking Gero.. and staying in a ryokan to enjoy the japanese culture..just perfect.
The onsen pools were brilliant... Breakfast and dinner very generous!
The hotel is really cozy and comfortable. The hostess is kind to us and offers us a drive to the station. The onsen is great and breakfast is great. We had a great time here and will come here again next time!
