Modern apartment on the outskirts of Velas. The views from the terrace and the dining area towards Pico Island and Mountain are absolutely beautiful and arguably the highlight of this comfortable apartment.
The bedrooms both have very comfortable beds. The kitchen is fully equipped and modern and the dining area is very spacious. There is also a TV corner with a couch comfortable enough for a shorter time. The bathroom is modern and has a walk-in shower.
Free parking is available on the street, usually in front of the house. A big supermarket is a 2-minute drive away, as is the town centre. The ferry port is about 5 minutes by car.
Nice and easy contact with the people who rent out the apartment via WhatsApp. Self check-in.
Set in Velas, Velasmar provides accommodation with a seating area, a flat-screen TV and a kitchen. Each unit features an oven, microwave, a coffee machine, as well as a toaster.

The location was really good, next to a natural pool. There are restaurants and a grocery shop near by. It has a really great view on Pico mountain. There are plenty of parking space in front of the building.
The check in went smoothly, and the owner was able to arrange a morning check in for us, so it's worth asking, but it based on availability and other guests leaving time.
Situated in Velas in the São Jorge Island region, Velasmar II features accommodation with free WiFi.

Good value, spacious, basic but very comfortable appartment. Beautiful natural swimming pool in the sea at the end of the road. Owners allowed us to check in early and arranged a taxi for the airport.

Amazing location, really romantic, quiet and surrounded by nature and it’s sounds, but close to everything else …
Stunning view to Mount Pico and the ocean.

Wow, this place far exceeded what I was expecting for the price. Firstly, it is immaculately clean. My room was very comfortable and the bathrooms are spacious. It is located right in the heart of town, but it isn't noisy. I'll definitely return.
Amazing place. Completely stocked small supermarket.
Amazing place. Completely stocked small supermarket. Chinese store had an amazing selection of clothes, electronics, etc. Restaurants were wonderful. Everyone we meet was helpful and friendly. Go to the lagoon on the otherside of the island - heavenly. Better hydranga lined roads and fields than Sao Miguel. Call Ramos for taxi service - he is my cousin.

Piscina Natural Simao Dias, the most beautiful natural pool in the Azores. I would recommend it to others.
I traveled around the island on a rented scooter. But I thought it was safer to use a car.

Velas is a lovely little town on Sao Jorge.
Velas is a lovely little town on Sao Jorge. It isn't large but has everything you need for a week on tge island. There are several natural swimming pools with free umbrellas and shower/changing facilities (the fact they're free unlike so many places is really good). The restaurants we ate in were really good serving local produce with good value for money. The rest of the island has the spectacular scenery and Velas is a good place to base yourself to see it.

The hospitality of this village is to die for.
The hospitality of this village is to die for. Great food, pure hearted people, I recommend having a meal at Cervejaria S. Jorge with the great Chef Luísa Fernandes, take a boat tour and walk from Serra do Topo to the Fajãs. Try the local cheese and pair it with a nice glass wine. It's a healing place, too beautiful to describe. Book a longer stay, it's really worth the time

Velas is just a place to stay to have a base to explore the nature on the island. Unfortunately we had rain and fog most of the time and got to see very little. There is an excellent restaurant in the next town, Rosais. It is called O Branqinho and has a fabulous lunch for only about 8 euros.

This place was an apartment above a cake shop!!
This place was an apartment above a cake shop!! Breakfast was in the shop and it was open long hours for dinks etc. Very modern and well appointed but very noisy on two nights but this was only because it was festa time.and the stage was right next door in the market I bought some earplugs and after that it was FINE!!
Fabulous location, with bats swooping over the pool, knock out views in a green paradise. We overlooked 2 cliffs and saw amazing sunsets. Maria was lovely and made the stay welcoming and homely. Staff cleaned and changed sheets/ bedding every day. 5 mins walk from Velas. On the walk to Velas, you could see the volcano of pico rising out of the clouds. Honesty, I would have paid double.Breakfast was a feast!
All the photos I have added are from the property views or walking into velas.
Super clean, extremely comfortable bed and really friendly and responsive hosts.
The place also has a phenomenal view of the cliffs nearby in Velas, as well as Mount Pico. We only stayed one night but it was a great spot and we wished we had more time. The garden was cool and overall had a very laid back vibe. We also appreciated the laundry onsite. The host also allowed us to check in early which was really helpful.
This property has a great location with an amazing view, host is super nice and helpful, the bungalow is basic but very comfortable and kitchen is equipped with everything you might need. Coffee capsules were a great bonus in the morning :)
Beach is very close to the property. You might need a car/taxi if you'd like to hike the mountain trails.
Wi-fi is available as well.
Good value for money, recommend!
The small inn is located in Velas a short distance from the good restaurants and the port yet it's a quiet area. The owner, Julia, was very helpful. My room was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and very clean. There were 2 balconies, the upper one overlooking Mount Pico, the tallest mountain in Portugal. There were a few bakeries open early for the breakfast.
This was a decent hotel. My room was very small but the bathroom was great. Miguel, one of the owners, was very attentive and kind. The room was cleaned every day and the breakfast was good. The location was the best part of it, very central, close to lots of restaurants, a good supermarket and the main square.
This little cottage had the most amazing views of Velas, Pico and the ocean. The cottage we were in had a living room, 2 bedrooms, dining and kitchen. The unit was very clean. The local cagarros kept us entertained with their very unique bird chatter! Gisella was very friendly!
The room was a short walk to anything in town. There’s also cafe with one of the better menu offerings in town right next to the hotel. My favourite amenity was the room’s large balcony with a great view of Pico. The staff is friendly and helpful. I asked lots of questions.
It's small (I think it was a house once) but within an excellent courtyard. Very clean and the owner is very personable. It's located near the center of Velas near a number of restaurants and the town center and it's close to the water. Has a nice continental breakfast.
This hotel was on beautiful grounds with many places on the property to appreciate a gorgeous ocean view. We had laundry done here as well and it was done quite nicely. Breakfast was very nice. Staff was very helpful with restaurants and such. Parking was no issue.
The property is located on the hill of Velas city with an amazing view on Pico mountain and the sea. Nice walking distance from the city center. Apartment is well equipped, spacious and clean. It is perfect! The owner replies to messages fast and is very helpful.
Beautiful boutique hotel with large and confortable rooms. Great breakfast and the restaurant Fornos de Lava is the best in the island. Breathtaking views to Pico. Super host with very good communication. Highly recommended.
Brilliantly stylish apartment right on a beautiful square. Free parking on the street nearby. Despite Velas being a port town, it wasn't too busy. Laundry facilities were great to have. Owner could not do enough to help.
Everything is very goog (location, room, ocean view, staff, free parking in front of the hotel, beautiful swimingpool and garden,.....). The hotel should be 4 * and not only 3* !!! We do suggest this accomodation !
The room was small but very clean. All we needed was there. Breakfast was basic however very decent. Nice personnel. Parking space available in front of the hotel on the street. Quality vs price is good.
The apartment is conveniently located near the coast in Velas, a few minutes away from a natural swimming pool with a beautiful view to Pico.
The host is very friendly and helpful.
spacious accommodation with a fabulous view of Pico above Velas. Gisela was very welcoming and gave us great recommendations for places to eat and things to see.
