Rashid Desert Private Camp

Bidiyah

Situated in Bidiyah in the Al Sharqiyah region, Rashid Desert Private Camp has a balcony. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. On clear days, guests can head outside to enjoy the luxury tent's outdoor fireplace or simply kick back and relax. I had this place and a couple others camps down to the wire, on which place I should stay at, in the end I chose this place. Once experiencing it I was happy with my decision. You get a more private experience at this place compared to others as there are are less tents and people, this goes a long way and you won't see this in the description or know this until you are there. Rashid goes out of his way to make your stay very enjoyable, like a true Omani. The other bonus that this place has over others is that its at the top of some of the highest dunes you can stay at; which is good because their is less dune climbing for you. PLUS driving up to the tents is so much fun in the rental (its not hard, just keep your momentum). Dune bashing was amazing and same with the camel ride. Thanks again Rashid.

Crescent Desert Private Camp

Shāhiq

Located in Shāhiq in the Al Sharqiyah region, Crescent Desert Private Camp provides accommodation with free private parking. This luxury tent offers a terrace. Outdoor dining is also possible at the luxury tent. Very different and adventurous stay when travelling in Oman. Nice equipped camp has everything you need except for wifi and power in the sockets for charging your phone. But you can enjoy sunset from a swing, night sky, sit for hours by the fire and wake up with the newborn sun over the dunes (if you want to). We had a pretty amazing later afternoon and night in the camp, I absolutely recommend

Al Wāşil

Guests will find a stovetop, kitchenware and an oven in the kitchen. The tent also has a barbecue. The tent offers a private entrance, a seating area, a terrace with mountain views as well as a private bathroom featuring a shower. The unit offers 1 bed.

The area is popular for walking tours, and car hire is available at the luxury tent. We stay 2 nights in the Ahmed desert camp and we really enjoyed it. Before our arrival he sent to us a lot of offered activities, so we choose - dune bashing (amazing), camel ride (great) and one day trip to desert with lunch (amazing). Ahmed is is a perfect host, which takes a full care about his guest. Meals (breakfasts, lunch and dinners) prepared by his chef were very delicious. In the evening we had a camp fire, with stars quiz and experience :-). I can fully recommend this desert camp if you want a memorable and traditional Omani experience.

SAFARI-Glamping

Al Wāşil

Located 50 km from Wadi Bin Khalid, SAFARI-Glamping offers accommodation in Bidiyah-20 kms inside the desert from the village Al Hawaiyah. SAFARI-Glamping offers two private tents and 2 huts between the dunes in Sharqiyah sands. Our experience at Safari Glamping was really amazing. We tried a lot of delicious traditional food, rented quad bike from a nearby camp, which is owned by the same person, and he invited us for a dinner at this bigger camp, where we had the opportunity to speak with him about his life as a beduin. The host in our camp was really nice and helpful, prepared fire and a really good food for us and as we were lucky to be alone there, we had a chance to speak with him. The room was really clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We drove to the camp by our 4WD car and it was simple and without any problem. You just need to have your tires deflated beforehand. 100% recommended experience worth the money.

Alsarmadi Desert Camp

Shāhiq

At the luxury tent, units have a outdoor furniture. All units have a private bathroom, free toiletries and bed linen.

You can play darts at the luxury tent. Alsarmadi Desert Camp has a children's playground and a picnic area. Alsarmadi is a camp with traditional Bedouin-style tent accommodations (with very comfortable Western-style beds!) high in the dunes of the sandy desert near Bidiyyah. It’s an experience, not just a place to stay. Even getting there is an adventure. You can drive yourself in a four-wheel drive, following after the truck sent from the camp to meet you (for free) or you can get a ride in their truck (for a fee, currently 35 rials). Once there, you will be offered Omani coffee, juice, and dates in a traditional carpeted shelter, then you can visit the livestock (Omani sheep, various breeds of goats, chickens, camels and a donkey), pet the baby goats, and take a ride on a camel. The camel riding is expensive but we thought it was worth it. Not as uncomfortable as I had imagined, although there was quite a lurch when the camel got up from kneeling to let us get on. After sunset, we were invited to watch the cooking of supper over an open fire, and we each had a turn to cook spicy flatbread directly on the coals. The food was delicious, with a nice selection of other dishes as well as the traditional food cooked over the fire. At night, the star-gazing was excellent, and the next morning we were surprised to find tracks of many small animals in the sand. So it was a very rich experience, made more memorable by the host, Said, who was very warm and accommodating and encouraged us to take advantage of all the experiences available.
