Such a nice gem this place. Perfectly organised by the owner who makes great food too! (On reservation) The village is lovely and from our room we could see the little stream that flows through town. Also go and see the shrine, it has a nice set-up and a great look out over the village. We can highly recommend this place!

A Guesthouse En é uma casa de férias situada em Maki, Shiga. A estação mais próxima é a Estação JR Omi-Hachiman, localizada a 12 minutos de carro. Guesthouse En is a beautiful rural getaway. The house was large compared with the many small hotel rooms we stayed in during our stay and it was so lovely to stay somewhere that had genuine Japanese atmosphere, but that also catered to western tourists (e.g. the bath/shower is suitable for both western and Japanese travellers). We also appreciated the little extra touches like an automatic heater in the toilet and decent coffee bags. The bikes were great to get us to and from town, and Hiroshi was also very generous to take us to and from the station for a day trip to Kyoto. Would recommend to anyone who wants to get out of town and experience Japan a little more slowly.

Perfect location to visit the countryside of Japan. This is the real Japan with Koi carpers swimming in river-like gutters and friendly helpfull villagers. On top of this, Kyoto is only half an hour away by train. We came for a nice, relaxing place to stay but got a family who was so warm and welcoming. Mizu, the hostess of Smile guesthouse is a very kind and helpful person who speaks good English. She helped and guided us to make our stay even better. The guest house is a traditional Japanese house. Beautiful and full of details. And next to that you can eat fresh strawberries at the Tanaberry farm, which is a 8 minutes walking distance. We can recommend everyone to stay here. As we immediately extended our stay the day we arrived and are planning to definitely stay again the next time we travel to Japan.

Guesthouse Shin situa-se em Omihachiman, a 37 km de Templo Enryaku-ji e a 38 km de Templo Sanzen-in. My wife and I are not young folks anymore. The trip to the bathroom during the night was somewhat difficult for us. The bedroom was on the upper floor in the lovely traditional Japanese house. The narrow stairway was challenging for us. There is ample room downstairs and perhaps owners would accommodate a request to put the bedding there.

Essential mod-cons are here, wifi, modern toilet, kitchen facilities, but most of all you’ll enjoy the crisp countryside air and warm hospitality of the owner. Recommended!

Farm stay inn Sanzaemon-tei 母屋GuestHouse Shiga-Takasima Traditional Japanese architecture house encontra-se em Takashima, a 50 km de Templo Sanzen-in e a 27 km de Omimaiko Beach. Instructions by the host were precise and clear before the checkin. The rooms were sparkling clean, hosts were super friendly and helpful! Location is great to multiple sights in the neighborhood. (Metasequoia trees, cherry blossom, etc. ) Everything is as described in the property descruption. Even better than the pictures. Hosts do not speak english, however they are well prepared with a translator app.
