Hotel in Río Dulce
In the Rio Dulce river near a 16th century castle the Tortugal Boutique River Lodge peninsula is bathed by almost constant on shore breezes providing a cool and refreshing place. What did we like? All of it! The rooms are tastefully decorated. They were very comfy, despite being in the middle of nature. Attentive staff, picked us up to and fro Rio Dulce. Good food, cold beers. Very refreshing to be able to jump in the river when hot!
Hotel in Río Dulce
El Hotelito Perdido is a little jungle hideaway located in a middle of Rio Dulce National Park. TLDR: Go there. The best advice I saw in the reviews was to book one more night the you planned to. I wish I could give more than 10, because this place is truly amazing. You understand you're in heaven the moment you step off the boat. The surroundings are incredible, the rooms are comfortable (even hot-ish water in the shower), the meals are big and delicious, and Tim, Alejandra and the whole staff are helpful (from activities, advice, and transportation to anywhere when leaving). I was surprised by how many things you could do in the area. I thought we will mostly be stuck in the hotel (not a bad thing with this one) reading books and swimming in the river, but eventually we had ourself an awesome schedule that is possible thanks to the transformation and guides (and kayaks) the hostel offer, and actually had to decide between activities because we didn't have time to do them all in our 3 nights stay. Also, the chocolate is amazing and so is the massage. It seemed to me like the place is truly doing a good job in being an eco-hotel so also thumbs up for that. I contemplated a lot about visiting Rio Dulce area, and after not meeting anyone planning to go there throughout our whole trip, I started regretting my decision to come. I'm so happy we eventually decided to go because it was one of our favorite places in Guatemala (maybe the favorite).
Hotel in Izabal
Located in Izabal, 28 miles from Castle of San Felipe de Lara, Reserva Natural Cañón Seacacar has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. Perfect place hidden in a small village. It’s the only accommodation in the village and has been build to help the local community. The first language in the village is Q’eqchi, the children are now learning Spanish in school from about age 5. The staff of the hotel is from the village and for them it is a place to learn and work in tourism. They are all very friendly and helpful. If you want to have a great Guatemalan experience in one of the most beautiful places of Guatemala, where the crowds don’t go (yet), this is where you want to go! I reached the hotel by a two hour trail that is insanely beautiful, constructed by the people of the village, easy to follow and a good climb to two wooden miradors with lake and jungle views. Always with the sound of absolutely fantastic river ‘sauce’ on the background. The next day I went down on a tube and they carried my bag down. The tubing in the river is what will drop your yaws!! Absolutely beautiful, a cañón with high Walls on both sides. Everything is well organized and clean. It absolutely worth a visit! I’m writing this review because I could not believe that I was the only tourist there (on a Saturday)! You will not regret your visit and you will probably (hopefully) write a similar review to help this village and the people creating a better future for there town. There are several projects ongoing, including deforestation! Go and enjoy jungle, river and peace while enjoying great food and comfortable accommodation(affordable too!)

Nanajuana Río Dulce has a restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center and bar in Río Dulce. Among the various facilities of this property are a shared lounge, a garden and barbecue facilities.... Breakfast was delicious and prices were comparable to restaurants outside of hotel. Hotel also offered an hour or two (don't remember clearly) of free little foot paddling boats, which was fun to pass the time. The hotel is nice and secure as well with security outside of resort. Loved that they were pet friendly as well, so I got to bring my pup along!
Hotel in Río Dulce
Located in Río Dulce and with Castle of San Felipe de Lara reachable within 6.4 miles, Linda Vista provides concierge services, non-smoking rooms, an outdoor swimming pool, free WiFi and a restaurant.... Amazing stay! If you're coming to Rio Dulce this is the place to stay! Family run, very well kept place. The photos & description on booking.com don't do this place justice - it is much better than we expected! Very clean!! The pool is perfect to cool down & the rooms are spacious. We stayed for 6 nights in the end and many people came only for 1 night. This is the perfect place to slow down and relax if you have been travelling for a while like us - so we advise that you stay here for at least a few nights and enjoy the peacefulness. The owner speaks English - the rest of the staff don't but they are all very friendly and done everything to help us. They will pick you up by boat right at the shuttle stop in Rio so it is a really easy transfer to get there. Every day they took us into the town by a really nice 10 minute boat ride. They can book other trips for you - we went for a boat trip to Livingston. And they also booked our onward shuttle to Guatemala City for us. 10/10 service 👍 Rio Dulce town is crazy. The contrast between the chaos in the town and the tranquility of Linda Vista was perfect for us.
