When I visited Myvatn, Sel Hotel is always my first choice of accommodation. Its home stay like for me and it never fails me in anyway. All staffs are friendly and its food was always at high standard. Bonus is its location! Apart from staying here during summer, each time I managed to see the aurora! This trip I literally saw it in bed through the window. If you are staying in a room facing front, sunrise or sunset, Lake Myvatn even aurora are all just outside your window.

An excellent place to stay next to Lake Myvatn. Located close to Hverir geothermal area and Myvatn Nature Baths (well worth a visit). The restaurant here is superb and the buffet breakfast the best we had in Iceland with meats and cheeses etc. from the farm (there is a very strong farm to plate ethic going on here). The room itself was well sized but cozy and warm (it was minus 13 in the morning so this was important!). Plus you can go and pet the cows and calves!

The room was comfortable and really clean. There were shared showers/toilets but the room had a sink inside which was a plus. The breakfast was delicious, with a very nice view of the fields. 20min by car from Lake Myvatn. One can also buy pretty Icelandic sweaters there in a decent price compared to shops in Reykjavik or Akureyri.

Central location at lake Myvatn. Proper rooms with bath and comfortable bed. We were here in August, so there were thousands of flies and mosquitos which dont bite, so its just a little bit stressful when they invade your head. :) Nothing to do with the guesthouse, just consider this at that time of the year.

Comfortable but small room, large en suite bathroom with heated floor. Excellent location for Lake Myvatn - short drive to all key sites including Myvatn baths, Hverir etc. Close to supermarket, petrol station, pizza and more formal restaurants. Easy check-in and check-out with self use codes.

I LOVE the Hotel Laxa. It has such a cool laid back vibe and is in the perfect location on the banks of Lake Myvatn. The rooms are cosy and modern, the breakfast is good, the staff are friendly. I can’t praise it enough. We even got to see the Northern Lights from the car park🇮🇸💚

Classy hotel on lake MyVatn. Comfy modern room. Nice decor in building. Upscale bar and restaurant. Wonderful breakfast. Close to many attractions around the lake.

The property was super clean and conveniently located on the lake. Easy drives to Lake Myvatn, Godafoss, Dettifoss, Namafjall geothermal area, Husavik.

Great restaurant for dinner and a well served breakfast. Hotel decor is stylish and minimal. The hotel setting at Lake Myvatn is beautiful.

The town is beautiful. The rooms are old fashioned, but stylish.

Really big for a fair price, cute farm, excellent breakfast with many selfmade things, modern kitchen, best view and location!

Great breakfast. Lava bread was different. The host was really accommodating and so kind. They made me an early breakfast package due to my early departure. There's a grocery store, gas station, and fish n chips place nearby.
