It has one room with a balcony, and I immediately reserved it when I knew I would be stopping in this small town. It wasn't much more expensive, but it made the room bigger, and I could sit outside at night and relax. The breakfast was really excellent. It's not a buffet; you enter the restaurant and your table has been set out for you. It was a big breakfast, and I couldn't eat everything. But I tried. Everything was super fresh and flavorful. I also had something to eat there the evening before, and although the menu wasn't huge, the food was great. The town is very small, but you can walk across a footbridge to an island where there are ancient ruins of a fortress. Sometimes this site is used for concerts and live events, although none were scheduled when I was there. I went for a quick swim in the lake nearby. I discovered a fabulous Latvian beer called Valmiermuiza in this place.
