The bungalows have big beds with the best mattress ever and hot water. The owners as well as the staff were extremely helpfull with everything and very flexibly and kindly reacted to the change in our schedule caused by flight delay. They arranged for us the transport on the island as well as in Banda Aceh - Irrfan, the driver in Banda Aceh not only got us everywhere we needed when the schedule was tight, but also proved to be a great local guide who showed us all places of cultural and culinary interest in banda Aceh.

Tailana Island Pulau Banyak has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Alaban. Among the various facilities of this property are a bar and a private beach area. Everything was so beautiful and the people were really nice, helpful and welcoming! We really enjoyed our stay!

Set on the beachfront in Pulau Palambakbesar, MB Palambak Island Resort Pulau Banyak Aceh Singkil has a garden. There is a terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. We just loved everything about this place! The beach, the palm trees and the clear waters of the deep blue sea are picture perfect everywhere around the island. Our beautiful wooden bungalow was nice and basic - but with all most important necessities - and well maintained, with an attractive veranda with two lovely wicker armchairs, a table and a hammock. It was wonderfully relaxing to spend time here reading or just staring at the sea… The MB Palambak Island Resort has only eight bungalows, all identically designed and in good shape. The four shared bathrooms/toilets are spotlessly clean and well looked after too. The resort is currently one of only two places to stay on the island. There are no settlements or villages, which enhances the Robinson Crusoe feeling. Communal meals are prepared in the central restaurant shack and served at the big tables outside on the veranda (or inside when it’s raining). Before arrival you’ll be asked if you have any food preferences - vegetarian/fish/chicken - and the cook matches your desires. Every day the menu was a surprise, but it was always delicious and with great variety. We didn't have the same dish once during the four days we stayed here. Kayaks and snorkeling gear are free available for guests. However, the underwater world around Pulau Palambak is not the most beautiful in the Banyak Islands; for that you‘re better off going to Tailana or Tambarat. Boat trips can be arranged at reasonable costs. The sand in front of the resort is cleaned daily by the staff (possibly together with volunteering guests). Staff is super friendly and helpful. Essential communication takes place by e-mail and WhatsApp via Mrs Claudine, the great organizational talent behind the scenes. She can also arrange your boat transport from/to the mainland. The MB Camp in Singkil has the same owner as the MB Palambak Island Resort. Direct speedboats can be arranged between both places if required.

Ira Bungalows Pulau Banyak has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Alaban. I loved everything about this property. It is low key, calm, away from mass tourism- it can be a bit of a mission to get there according to weather conditions but totally worth it . Owners Ira and Vicky are lovely people as is their staff of 3 who do an excellent job in a low key friendly way. Bit of a cliche to say they feel like family but after 7 days stay there it is true. I have travelled a lot and it is rare to find a place like this. It is not “flash” and don’t expect all the bells and whistles but if you want a quiet stay with swimming, reading ( and games avaible ) excellent internet and 4G as a bonus then this is the place for you.

Set in Sabang, 400 metres from Iboih Beach, Iboih inn offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. The home-cooked breakfast every morning was excellent. Fresh food well-prepared. The owner, Ibu Saliza, remembered which foods I especially liked and made sure to serve them again and saved me some! She is also a great source of information and help. Saliza knows the flights and transport that Google doesn't and she will book them for you. Ask her anything about travel, local history, food, anything. She is a great person to chat with. The location was perfect. Nice and quiet all day and all evening. Good aircon for comfortable sleep at night, or sit out on the dock in the evening and enjoy the water and the stars. The snorkeling right off the dock was great--better than when I booked a seat on a dive boat. I initially booked three nights but extended to six, and wish I could have stayed longer!
