Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaNothing to improve, but one note for international travelers is that bathroom towels are not supplied. This is easily solved by a quick trip to Tesco!
This was the nicest place we stayed on our recent trip to Wales. It was very clean, nicely decorated, comfortable, and very well equipped. The extra loo outside and washer/dryer would be handy for large groups. Everything worked flawlessly, it is a very short walk to the water, and a pleasant stroll to Porthmadog. Free parking nearby was easy to find at the time of year we visited. We would love to stay here again.

United KingdomBeautiful location with lovely little garden leading to a lane with a playground and route to the beach. The view from just outside the front door is one of the best seaside and mountain landscapes I've seen. It's glorious to see every morning. You can hear the gentle lap of the waves as the tide in the little harbour comes in. it's so peaceful and quiet in the evening. Well equipped kitchen with everything we needed.

LithuaniaCould not open outdoor toilet door and did not have tumble dryer. Only 1 small bin in the kitchen and had to look for the bins outside the gate of the garden.
Electric fireplace, nicely decorated house and well equipped.

United KingdomIt was perfect for us as a couple and would be okay as a short break for 4 but space wise I wouldn’t exceed that! As a heads up to others, we went out of season and a lot of places were shut on Monday & Tuesday nights so if you wanted to eat out you have to travel by car.
Lovely little village just outside Porthmadog. Cottage was perfect for our stay and beautifully presented. The walk into Porthmadog was lovely by daylight. Everything that you could need is provided and great communication with the owner. I would definitely book to stay here again.

United KingdomNothing!
This is a fabulous place to stay, so many little extras, we did not want for anything. The beds were comfy, the house was clean and really well equipped. The lovely well planned out garden was great for having a glass of wine outside and looking at the views. We were lucky we had good weather. Lee responded to our messages promptly, there were no issues, we just wanted to check something, he is a good host. Borth Y Gest is just beautiful, and ideally placed to explore North Wales. Porthmadog is about a 3 minute drive away, and has 3 supermarkets as well as lots of lovely food places and shops. Overall, an excellent stay.

It is very close to the sea view cafe, which is why we came back to this area. The price was excellent and lovely beaches and coastal path.

United KingdomNothing to complain about, everything was perfect!
Bryn Goleu is a lovely cottage in a small village (Borth-y-Gest). The location is perfect for walks along the coast path or in the mountains, and in the warmer season close to beaches for swimming or watersports. The cottage is very well equipped, really a 'home from home', with a fully equipped kitchen and cosy sitting room with an electric fire, board games etc.. We stayed there after Christmas when the weather was horrible, so it was wonderful to come back to such a cosy cottage after a day's walk and relax with a cup of tea in front of the fireplace. The cottage also has a small back garden to sit outside and have BBQs in the summer (we couldn't use it because it was raining). Overall, a wonderful place to relax! The owners were very helpful and quick to answer questions by email. Thank you Lee and Jane, I'll definitely return for another short break at Bryn Goleu!

United KingdomAs there was no heating, the upstairs of the property was somewhat cold, moreover we were unable to dry our towels after use on the towel rail, so had to bring them downstairs to dry in front of the electric fire.
Lovely, quaint property with many facilities in a nice quiet location. Well maintained and comfortable house - was pleasantly surprised at the attention to detail.
