How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Room was a bit on the small side for a week's stay. Bistro didn't offer much in the way of gluten free food and didn't seem able to adapt from their standard menu to accommodate g.f.

The outside ground lights were very bright and penetrated into the room.
Staff were excellent, room was spacious and well maintained, food was good and well prepared, parking easy. Overall superb

Breakfast inadequate for price. Should have had a bath with an overhead shower available in en-suite due to my disability.
Room was nice with bed & tea / coffee facilities available, however shower no good as can’t stand due to only 1 leg but should have advised this when booking, breakfast next morning a disappointment due to no toast / bread offered & size of full English was expensive at additional £13.50.

The birds whining outside the window first thing in the morning.
It was a nice place with a very good restaurant. Breakfast was also very good. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean and neat.

Hotel was a little “tired” in places (well worn settees in back bar etc) but staff were excellent - we were slightly disappointed that they failed to make up our room on the second night of our stay but we would happily stay again
Location was out of town but suited our purpose perfectly well - we were able to walk to a nearby bus stop (5 mins walk) at which we caught a bus to Edinburgh (50 mins ride) and spent the day exploring the city

Everything ☺️ there were little boards in the garden telling you about the wildflower area the log pile for hedgehogs and even fairy doors on the trees 💕
The hotel was absolutely gorgeous, the gardens stunning ,the atmosphere and the staff were very welcoming

The owner gave me a lovely tour of the garden. The staff were extremely helpful and lovely. The rooms were clean and the bathroom was clean aswell. All over a good stay

Some younger staff could use a bit more training we had to wait a long time to be served at breakfast staff were more interested in clearing emptied tables than serving us our order which had also taken some time to be taken

Breakfast was really good. Great choice. Staff very helpful when we asked for Indian restaurant recommendations. Even ordered the taxi for us and came to knock on our room door when it arrived as no phone in room to call us.on.

The rooms are functional and very clean. They are a touch dated with regards to the furniture, but spacious enough. I think the rooms would benefit from a small fridge, to keep beverages, snacks etc cool. None of these points are criticisms as the hotel itself is more than functional and in my opinion v good VFM
The location was perfect, close to both the Town centre and my in-laws house in nearby Halbeath. Very central for all amenities but the Hotel itself was nice and quiet, set in spacious grounds, with ample parking to the front and rear. The restaurant served good meals, and with two bars running concurrently there was no problems getting a drink!

Good parking, public spaces nowhere bedrooms so it was quiet even when there were events on, food was good, my room had everything I needed (including an iron, which is missing from rooms all too often). Highlight is the staff, who were efficient but friendly. Reception staff are very good and extremely professional, bar/restaurant staff were never stopped moving!
