I was unsettled & aware of the low hum of traffic noise, but that may be because we live in a very quiet spot. There wasn’t a lift to the bedroom storey, but I managed the stairs despite some arthritic problems. It would have helped to have known the ‘last orders’ time for breakfast. There was no notice of this in the bedroom, & we missed the cooked breakfast as a result.

That it was in a pleasant position despite being so close to the motorway. The room was massive & it had a walk in shower as well as a bath. The reception staff were extremely helpful.

I'm not sure how efficient the ingredients inventory management is for the restaurant; there were many items unavailable at dinner however what we ate was fine. At breakfast there was an item on a cooked breakfast that was unavailable but we were not advised of this beforehand and, surprisingly, no alternative was offered.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is comfortable and as a 1 night stopover it was in a great location for onward travel.

The first room we were given had a very strong cigarette smell, especially in the bathroom. The second room was fine but smelled damp as did the corridors.

Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely foyer area and restaurant. We were given another room straightaway as the first one had had someone smoking in it.

Room was booked as a double (confirmed with reception), however room was cramped, dark and had a 4 foot 3/4 bed and a single. Toilet was so close to the wall you had difficulty sitting straight.

Breakfast was good, service was better than the last time we were there.

The menu is a huge disappointment for a FOUR STAR hotel it is more like a mediocre pub but the service was Ok Breakfast could have been better staffed as I had to go to find the waiter who was allegedly in the kitchen ???

Good rooms and good staff at check into breakfast was ok

We had some problems with the room. One of the bedside lights did not work and neither did the temperature control in the shower - it was just too warm all the time. We ate an evening meal in the restaurant and several of the dishes on the menu were not available - we ordered the lasagne and when it arrived it was cold in the middle and the cheese on the top wasn’t browned. The waiter took mint back to the kitchen and replacements were cooked. This meant that we waited a long time for our meal - so long that the head waiter came to ask if we’d been offered coffee or the desert menu before the main had arrived!

The hotel is very convenient for the motorway and is quiet and normally has comfortable rooms and helpful staff. Our room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast is very good with nice coffee.

The hotel is dated and needs some TLC. The wc in our en suite had a notice asking for the handle to be pumped to enable the flush. This worked only occasionally and we resorted to pouring kettles of water to clear the bowl. We reported this to the staff but nothing improved. The radiator in the room had tea/coffee stains but this was cleaned immediately we made a complaint. We arrived after breakfast had finished on our second morning - Monday - as when we asked at reception for the time of breakfast we were told the time for Sunday and were not warned that breakfast finished one hour earlier during the week. Neither were we told the code for exiting the car park barrier. The notice at reception with this information was not on display when we checked in - this notice also displayed the breakfast times. An information booklet containing these details would be helpful in each room, plus a reminder about fire exits and the telephone number for contacting reception from the bedroom phone. The proximity of the motorway meant that the ground floor terrace was very noisy but the double glazing etc meant that inside the hotel, in the lounge, dining room or bedroom, we were not disturbed by the traffic noise.

Buffet breakfast was plentiful and cooked well and laid out well. good choice of continental breakfast items and full (English) breakfast. Despite arriving aftert breakfast sitting had finished one day, the restauarant staff were welcoming and made a special effort to make tea for us - food was still available on the buffet although just the left overs! Our third floor twin bedroom had one double and one single bed. The room was spacious and had room for an armchair and a desk and chair and the beds were comfortable with white linen sheets and pillowcases. There is a lift available The hotel is a couple of minutes drive from the motorway and our room had a wonderful view across the River Ribble. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We asked for a late checkout and this was free of charge ,which is not often the case in other hotels. Plentry of free parking. A good sized lounge and dining room. We enjoyed tea and cake in the comfortable lounge in the afternoon and spotted a heron catching it's afternoon tea from the river. We did not eat dinner there but the menu offered a good choice at reasonable hotel prices. A welcome extra was a machine dispensing cold ,still and sparkling, water available free of charge on each floor. We would be happy to stay again if we were promised that the plumbing had been fixed! Tried to contact the hotel to advise them we would be arriving very late (early morning) but couldn’t get a direct line to the hotel and the telephone numbers supplied only got you to the reservations centre that was closed.

We arrived very late and the welcome was outstanding. Thank you.
