How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Beds. Location.
The beds were fantastic. The location was excellent and the snacks and drinks in the fridge were a great bonus. Hosts were super friendly and helpful.

Hi.. okay so we booked this for our explorers who had left their wallet in the room with some money and card. They then reached out to us and we then got in touch with Giovanni, the superb & amazing host, who was so quick in his responses and immediately went to the property to look for the described wallet. He found it and sent a photo of it. To our surprise, he took the guests' postal address of the UK, went to the post office, packed everything up and sent it free of cost!! He did not take even a penny for it. Where do we find such kind hearted people nowadays?! So a BIG THANK YOU to Giovanni who went out of his way to help us and leave such a beautiful mark of kindness. Much respect & love from the entire team of Journee. Cheers!

Cannot find a negative opinion :)
The room is very clean, the matress is great, we had a really great sleep. The location is perfect, 3-4min walk to train station, lots of restaurants, terraces and shops nearby. The host is very nice and willing to help, coffe, water and many more are included. I would definetly recommend!! 10+

Property was an easy downhill walk from the central train station. We found it without difficulty on a quiet street near many restaurants and small groceries. We walked all over central La Spezia and easily did a day trip to Cinque Terre towns from this location. Property manager was super friendly and helpful with information about the town. The room was very clean and comfortable. Attached bathroom was very nice. Air conditioning worked great. Loved the little snacks in room.

Great location, very clean and comfortable, bed was wonderful we slept like logs! Problem with toilet flush was rectified immediately. Lady on desk is so friendly and helpful

Everything was great!
Loved the location. It was in the centre and close to all the restaurants and shopping. Giovanni was fantastic. He catered to all our needs above and beyond our expectations. What a fantastic host. Thank you Giovanni for making our stay exceptional and very memorable. We will be back !

Close to La Spezia Centrale station and a ferry dock. The host is very helpful, the room is clean and the bed is comfy, makes me feel like I am home. Although breakfast is not included, B&B provides with free snacks and coffee.

Good, fairly central location, within easy walking distance to the station, the centre and the fishing and yachting harbour. The host arrived in person to welcome us and give useful advice. Well appointed room, excellent bed and complimentary drinks and biscuits. Comfortable and clean. Baker's shop a few yards away, and cafe for breakfast just nearby.

We’re interrailing through Europe at the minute and this was one of my favourite places we have stayed. Room is modern and clean, great air con, hair dryer etc! staff are super friendly. location is excellent. there’s a coffee machine and they leave out free biscuits and cakes each day! Definitely recommend!

Excellent located. One minute from the pedestrian street with shops and restaurants. There is everything you need and everything is clean and tidy. We got a room with a balcony. There are free espresso and cookies. The owner Giovanni is an amazing person, very nice and you can see that he tries very hard to help. With the parking it's a bit crowded but you can definitely manage. We were given a parking ticket while staying at Cinque Terre and he helped us pay. Really recommend him and his accommodation apartment

Could not find something bad about this location.
Tiziana and Giovanni are really nice and helpful host. Room was very clean and well equipped. Everything was great, I recommend this location if you want to visit La Spezia an Cinque Terri.

It was a little unusual in that the host seem to have 3 rooms on one floor that he rented out, in the middle of a working class neighborhood. There was a keyed lock to the common area as well as our room, so we felt safe. It was about a 15 minute walk to the train station that we caught to visit Cinque Terre, and than on to Florence. The property worked well for us.
The host was very friendly and accommodating. He gave us a map and provided good directions, as well as informing us about parking in the area.

Great place to use as a base to explore the beautiful Cinque Terre and Bay of Poets - close to train station and bus routes. Owner was very friendly and helpful, and room was lovely with a very comfortable bed!

the shower leaked a bit and the hairdryer didn’t work but I didn’t get time to ask if it could be fixed.
It was very central and comfortable. Lots of good coffee and the staff were very nice!

Soundproofing wasn't that good.
The staff was friendly. Our room was nice (air condition was good) and clean. Fridge was nice surprise and they put more water there everyday. I can recommend this place :)
