How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

No soap provided only shampoo Ceiling was leaking alongside the bed where I was sleeping The boiler in kitchen was leaking water all over the kitchen worktop along the cooker and towards the microwave

The host was rude and there was no air conditioning in a room which made us share beds coz of the heat. The host also asked us to pay him in cash at the very last moment and had to get money from atm late at night during the check in process. The microwave was also not working
The location was great if you want to visit grand bazaar or the mosques

Little space (a queen bed is sqeezed into the kitchen), everything is old, worn, and a bit smelly. You are forced to pay in cash by the man-of-few-words owner.

The bathroom had a bad smell and it was damp.
The location is prime, very close walking distance to all the main attractions. The staff is super polite and super helpful, we felt like home with old friends. They did everything to make us feel welcomed and to help with every issue we had. There's a free parking 2 minutes walk from the hotel. The breakfast is great, very big and traditional, a lot of little jars with different meals. My kids were very happy with and felt good overall.

We have to use stairs to carry luggages, water heater is malfunctioning, theres leaking roof, some wifi cannot be accessed, it is near to the tourist attractions but mind you, if you plan to walk to those places, it is very hilly,

There's no cleaning service while you stay there.no single day. You have to make your bed, clean the bathroom & and kitchen, which is very inconvenient. Take your own shampoo & body wash or buy at any shop around as you'll get some just the 1st day and no more will be added during the stay. The same with bedding. They won't be changed, as well as the toilet paper. Yoh have to buy your own. No complementary tea/coffee in the room. TV channels are all only in Turkish. Since it's self-catering, the amenities are not fully provided. So you can't cook. No pan, nothing. Just some cups, teapot. The microwave didn't work. So the online thing you can make is to boil water and bring your own tea and have tea. I wish the administration takes these comments into consideration and improve the situation. Or at least these comments may help the interested guest to be aware and get the necessary things before settling there.
The staff was so nice and very helpful. The location is very nice, close to everything and there are many shops and restaurants around. The hotel has its own restaurant and their food is very delicious. And it's very convenient restaurants when you need food. But the most I like the staff. They're super helpful and very nice. Thanks they provide free internet during your stay.

The apartment was clean and matched the description provided. The apartment had everything I needed. The staff was very kind, friendly and helpful. The location of the apartments was also a huge plus, which made it easy to explore the area by walking. The breakfast has a good spread of menu. Overall, my stay at apartments was wonderful, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Thank you again for a great experience!
